Summary
Thorin Oakenshield wakes. The air is cold, clinging to his skin in an unpleasant way. He reaches for his sword, the memory of his defeat still fresh in his mind.
In the distance shines the familar light of Bag End, where Bilbo Baggins is desperately trying to understand why the battlefield around him faded to the comfort of his home, the calendar mocking his attempts at making sense of the situation.
Both of them try to navigate the violent jump back in time as best as they can, but getting in each other's way of diverting fate causes more trouble than any of them could expect. It is a journey both of them will have to brave alone – unless, amidst all the chaos, they manage to find each other again.

Smaug never hatched and Isildur listened to Elrond (somebody has to) and the one Ring no longer exists. Sauron is just a bad guy with orc armies.

"It would be a promise I cannot keep." He told her as kindly as he possibly could. "I'd rather not keep a father and his child from each other- a King and his heir even less so."
Billa looked away but didn't flinch when a warm, rough hand touched her shoulder offering comfort. She desperately needed it. She was so frightened.
"Did you love him?" She heard him ask. She clung to the sympathy in his voice and nodded as her eyes brimmed with tears.
"Do you still?"
The answer was barely a whisper- as small and secret as the fluttering heartbeat under her shaking hand.

Amy somehow ends up in Middle Earth, falling into Bilba Labingi’s garden. While she fairly quickly understands where she is, there is the small problem that she has no idea when, at least not at first. Also, this is clearly not the version of Middle Earth Tolkien wrote about. For one thing, Bilba has the wrong gender. And for another… Amy can’t understand anything Bilba—or anyone else for that matter—tells her. She needs to learn a brand new language, while going on an adventure that might just possibly kill her.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, she starts hoping that this isn’t a Bilbo/Thorin romance, because she may just possibly be falling a bit in love with a certain grumpy dwarf.

Regardless of the reason, Bilbo was here, in his dining room with dwarves he had long since parted ways with. With dwarves who had long since died. He didn’t know why he was here, but one thing was certain.
Bilbo Baggins was determined to do better. He would not lose anyone dear to him, he swore it. Even if the cost was his own life.

I absolutely LOVED Kíli and Tauriel in The Hobbit (and I don't care that a lot of other people did not.) But what I did NOT love was their ending because, as beautiful as it was, I wanted more of their story! So, this story begins right after the elves find the dwarves in Mirkwood.

Her voice cold, her gaze hard, all emotion seemed to have been erased in her absence from her home, as she planted the blade deep in the tree, close enough for Legolas to feel it nick the edge of his ear.
"Do not touch me. Ever. Again." - she hissed, with all the intention that she would place the dagger somewhere far more fatal, should he ignore her words. No longer recognizing the friend he had once had, had cared so deeply for, he sank and quickly nodded. He would do no such thing again.- Note; this is Book 2, hence it will very little sense unless you read Book 1, as there are many changes from the Original story line -
