Summary
Dick stared at the food, swallowing nothing with his dry mouth. There was a pounding in his head, and sweat dripped down his face. He blinked.
I need to eat, he thought. But the sight of food just made his empty stomach clench in further pain. It was so far away too…even in this tiny little cell, he could not reach the food with his arm outstretched. When he shifted to the edge of the mattress, his fingers were still a couple inches away. The stone floor was cold and hard. He did not have the energy to move, nor the will to eat.
Ah, so ironic, that what had made him so sick had probably been the bats.
