Witchblade is one of those shows that can be very awesome or very sucky depending on what context it is viewed by. Since it is based on a long running Western graphic novel series original fans are going to be disappointed with the "animefication" of the series. However if you watch it with no previous knowledge of the series like I did you'll probably find it pretty interesting.
The animation is very nicely done with lots of detail in the fight scenes. However the DVD version feature's the main heroine in her original uncensored outfit so it might be too much for younger viewers.
The sound and Music were well done as well with a really opening and closing theme, at least for the first half of the series.
The story feels a bit too familiar at times. In the beginning the plot feels very reminiscent of Blood+(ie. a ditzy girl with amnesia discovers her hidden powers and is hired by a multi-million dollar corporation to hunt down others of her kind). There is some originality in that the heroine is a mother fighting to protect her daughter and not another cliched orphaned hero. While the mother-daughter relationship was good idea for creating emotion during the second half of the series it feels overly abused to build up to a "tragic ending" that we know is coming (so much so that the opening and ending themes are changed to a more lighthearted and emotion mood) and replaces time that could have been used for fights or plot and character development. Also the series leaves several things unanswered that are hopeful explained in the original comic series such how the main heroine originally acquired the witchblade and her daughter(you'll understand when you watch it)
The characters are well designed overall although some do feel very cliched in their personality.
This Anime can be quite enjoyable at times if your just in it for the fights as long as don't compare it to the original series
