Lets get this out of the way
There is a fine line between being inspired by Ghibli and plagiarism. This movie probably dips a little too deep into Miyazaki's legacy.
Having said that, I also have to mention that I really like Ghibli, so seeing a Ghibli inspired movie isn't necessarily a bad thing for me.
The actual movie
The story is simple. Maybe even a bit too simplistic. Just like the earlier ghibli movies this is a film for children, that can also be enjoyed by adults. Just don't expect something very deep, philosophical or "original".
Production values are good. Animation is a little bit stiff, but it's fine. The artwork could be better, but there is nothing technically wrong with them. This is a competent team. The backgrounds are warm and have a nice blend of fairy tale and photo-realism. There are some CGI elements (like cars) that looked a bit cheap. But overall: Not Great, Not "very good", but 'Better than Good'. A solid 6/10.
The music is a real plus, kinda reminds me of 'Your name'. Very nice.
Subjectively speaking
I like Japanese mythology. I like Buddhism. I like Anime. And I like this movie.
There is a lot you can criticize. The voice-acting was kinda bad. the pacing isn't perfect, the story is very predictable. You can choose to be a cynical bastard and dismiss this film entirely. Or, you can relax, lower your defenses, and just enjoy a nicely made little movie. It's an hour and 40 minutes, and if you got the time to spare. You might as well watch this.
+1 one points for the music and the mythology lesson.
