Internet of Things (IoT) can enable a complete remote visualisation and control of greenhouse environmental parameters in real time. The state of art systems use zigbee based wireless sensor networks for monitoring and control, which have a limited range of operation, bandwidth and cognitive abilities. This paper presents a novel IoT based system for telemetry and control of greenhouse environment. The developed system provides real time wireless sensor data transmission, data visualization and processing at the central monitoring server / PC via ThingSpeak cloud and ubiquitous GSM infrastructure. In view of increasing use of video transmission over wireless channels, a lot of research efforts... more In view of increasing use of video transmission over wireless channels, a lot of research efforts have been made to trade-off the error resiliency and transmission bandwidth requirements. This in turn has led to development of various unequal error protection (UEP) schemes. In this paper, the performance of optimized 2-layered and 3-layered UEP schemes using hierarchical 64 QAM (64-HQAM) for wavelet-transformed images coded with set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) algorithm and transmitted over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is investigated. A look-up table (LUT) based approach to select the optimal values of modulation parameters of 64-HQAM for different channel conditions is suggested so as to reduce the computational complexity. Simulation results show that 3-layered optimized 64-HQAM-based UEP outperforms corresponding non-optimized UEP. Also, 3-layered optimized UEP scheme using 64-HQAM performs slightly better as compared to optimized 2-layered UEP scheme using 64-HQAM.

This paper deals with the study of the performance of detector for high bit rate transmission on some worst case models of frequency selective fading channels for outdoor mobile radio environments. Thus a smart detector such as near maximum likelihood detector (NMLD) is needed and is the subject of study in this paper. Performance assessment of near-optimal NMLD over such channels assumes great importance. This paper deals with the detection of data in the presence of noise and ISI with two types of detectors viz. NMLD and nonlinear equalizer (NLE). Performance improvement of NMLD, as compared to nonlinear equalization, has been assessed in terms of bit error rate (BER) versus signal to noise ratio (SNR) curves obtained through computer simulation. The aim of this paper is to take a number of different cases of severely distorted mobile radio channels for outdoor vehicular environment and then to investigate the performance of detectors in the receivers.

In such cases, Near-Maximum-Likelihood (NML) detection gives good performance. This paper describes the Design and Testing of a QPSK transceiver using NML detection on an NVIDIA Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) for Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems. Recent advances in programmable, highly parallel GPUs have enabled high performance general purpose computation. NVIDIA GPU is used for realizing this application. The data is transmitted over a frequency selective channel and experimental results are obtained. All the processing is done onto the NVIDIA GPU and the results obtained are compared for varying Signal to Noise Ratios (SNR) for different channel configurations.
