The evolution of (trans) man.

(Well, this one, anyway.)

  • Age 9: "Tomboy"
  • Age 15: Strictly enforced femininity
  • Age 30: Hitting the mental limits of being closeted all his life and about to crash HARD
  • Age 47: Fifteen years now since starting transition. Far more good days than bad, no regrets.

The world may be full of uncertainty and danger, but I resolve to continue to find joy in who I am. Be joyful to be kind to yourself and be joyful to spite the bastards who would tear us apart.

kadabra mama and making a first attempt at the hypno line

they’re in the same family as kazam line (how like foxes are to dogs), and their longterm evolution focused on sapping psy energy through dream eating (yet another abstract psy concept that human scientists get headaches over). they’re considered B class sapient, but have no discernible society outside of small family units. hypnos can be trained to speak using telepathy, but otherwise have their own methods of communication

this is a northern cardinal displaying bilateral gynandromorphism - the left side of the bird’s body is male, and the right side is female. unlike intersex individuals, the bird is entirely ‘split’ between male and female. likely due to its strange appearance, the bird was never observed with a mate or producing vocalizations, and was not often seen being social with other cardinals. despite how rare bilateral gynandromorphism is, one other case was recorded in a northern cardinal in 1969 - with the male and female sides reversed.

It’s been a hot minute since I uploaded any cross stitches. Here’s one I finished roughly this time last year, so Oct./Nov. 2016. I keep this piece framed right above my nightstand.
The pattern is by Servostitch, but I played around with the colors a little bit.
