Zachary Tobe, mere days after an official visit to Chapel Hill, commits to play for North Carolina.
Tobe, who plays his prep ball for Ocee (Fla.) High, is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back in the 2023 class. He projects as a safety on the next level; 247 Sports slots Tobe as the No. 97 safety in the 2023 cycle.
After an official visit to North Carolina, Tobe quick announced his decision: he’ll be a Tar Heel.

Tobe was an in-demand prospect; earlier this summer, he took official visits to Boston College, Iowa, Central Florida and Illinois. In the end, though, UNC and its co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Charlton Warren won out.
Warren was integral in the decision-making process for Tobe, according to Inside Carolina.
Warren spent two seasons at UNC, 2015-16. After that, he worked on several different SEC staffs, which provides Warren with access to the region, including Florida: Tennessee (2017), Florida (2018), Georgia (2019-20) and Indiana (2021).
Now, North Carolina’s 2023 recruiting class sits with eight commitments, including three 4-star prospects: lineman Joel Starlings, quarterback Tad Hudson and tackle Nolan McConnell.
