Secret Shells
These shells can be found scattered throughout Koholint Island. Try searching for them in tall grass or under watershould be: underwatersicThis is not an error. This word was misspelled in the original source.. If you find enough of them, something good is bound to happen.

Secret Seashells are hidden collectibles scattered across Koholint Island.[4] There is a total of 26 Secret Seashells for Link to find (50 in the Nintendo Switch remake). They can be found underneath Bush, Rocks, underwater, or inside Treasure Chests.[5] Though typically obtained one at a time, Link may receive two at the Seashell Mansion as long as he is already carrying exactly five or ten of them.[6] By collecting 20 Secret Seashells and going to the Seashell Mansion, Link receives the Koholint Sword.[6] Once the Koholint Sword is obtained, any remaining Secret Seashells will either disappear or be replaced with 20 Rupees.

If Link is taking BowWow for a walk and gets close to a buried Secret Seashell, BowWow will sniff it out and hint it to Link.[7][8]

Four Swords Adventures

The Minish Cap

Mysterious Shells are used to buy Figurines from the Figurine Gallery, which is found in Hyrule Town. They are found all over Hyrule inside Chests, bushes, and Rocks. Later into the game, Stockwell will begin selling Mysterious Shells at 30 Shells for 200 Rupees.[note 1] Link can hold up to 999 Mysterious Shells at a time. Using Green Picolyte will increase Link's chance of finding Mysterious Shells.

After Link has collected all 136 Figurines, the Mysterious Shells slot in his status screen will change into the Carlov Medal, signifying he completed the collection.
