In the late 1960s and early 70s, John Barry was at his creative peak, writing both his greatest Bond music for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and the score for the Oscar-winning Midnight Cowboy within a few months of each other. As one decade melted into the next, Barry would provide a host of haunting, highly atmospheric scores: The Appointment, Deadfall, Mary Queen Of Scots, Follow Follow, with possibly his finest ever saved for Nicolas Roeg’s masterpiece Walkabout. He also found time to write the deathless theme for TV series The Persuaders.

The Lost Album From Ronnie Scott's is an unreleased live recording of jazz icon Charles Mingus from Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London captured in August 1972. It features alto saxophonist Charles McPherson, tenor saxophonist Bobby Jones, trumpeter Jon Faddis, pianist John Foster, and drummer Roy Brooks.

Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante expand the Vivaldi edition with the eleventh volume of violin concertos bearing the name of one of the most famous interpreters of the early eighteenth century: Anna Maria. Hailed as a "child prodigy" and outstanding artist of the Ospedale della Pietà, where Vivaldi taught for forty years, Anna Maria was an accomplished violinist, but also mastered the viola d'amore and theorbo, as well as the harpsichord, cello, lute, and mandolin. Her reputation spread throughout Europe, and we know that Vivaldi dedicated at least twenty-four concertos to her.

GEP are pleased to announce the release of ‘Pareidoliving’, the new release by German multi-instrumentalist Thomas Thielen. ‘t’ maestro Thomas Thielen returns with ‘Pareidoliving’, his most compelling and satisfying work to date. This new album skillfully blends the more ‘alt rock’ elements of ‘t’s previous works with a greater progressive sensibility, whilst somehow managing to make the whole more pleasingly accessible and immediate.

This Deutsche Grammophon release marks the debut of the pianist Yunchan Lim, who won the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (he was the second winner in a row from South Korea) and has been called classical music's answer to K-pop. In several ways, he has the right kind of unconventional, unassuming attitude to stand out from the crowd, beginning with that shown by this album itself. Where anyone else would have issued a solo album or, at the least, an album of high-profile concertos with a major orchestra, Lim chooses a live performance with a regional South Korean orchestra on an album with several wholly orchestral pieces. (This, of course, makes him stand out all the more.)

Christine Anne McVie is an English musician, singer and songwriter, and the lead vocalist and keyboardist of Fleetwood Mac, which she joined in 1970. She has also released three solo albums. Her direct but poignant lyrics focus on love and relationships. AllMusic describes her as an "Unabashedly easy-on-the-ears singer/songwriter, and the prime mover behind some of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits." Eight of her songs appeared on Fleetwood Mac's 1988 Greatest Hits album. In 1998, McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac, and received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

The narrator contemplates the passing of time and how imperative it is to savor it while you have it.
