Ads Manager 2 by Siropu

Ads Manager 2 by Siropu [Paid] 2.5.1

No permission to buy (€49.99)
This may be unrelated to your ad manager, but have noticed that when guests navigate to our site, Google displays ads in the page header. They are pernicious since they look like a registration form to a noobie.

Is there some way to make that area off limit?

The MP4 files preview is bugged when you upload one since release of the support of this file extension.

For example the "Background Image" preview, if you upload an MP4 is bugged, it becomes wider than the interface. Same goes for the banner when you need to approve them, the interface is bugged. Only with the MP4 format.

Another bug, people can still upload MP4 ads even if the ad format (jpg, PNG etc) is disabled and the ads uploaded can surpass the allowed height and width.

In the ACP, there's an option for displaying or hiding ads in Preferences, which I'd like to do for one user group:

I could swear that I once saw this in my account preferences, but I'm not seeing it anymore. Any idea where I should be looking?

Also, I wonder if this is related to another problem: when I had "View ads" set to "No", they were still showing for this user group, until I changed it to "Never"....but should "Never" also make the "Can hide ads" option disappear? Or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Still using the previous version because our site is still on 2.2...

Thanks again for such a great add-on!

It is still there. Use the analyze permissions feature to see how that permission is set for the user you want.

The permissions are definitely set correctly for the user (me, to start with!), but I'm not seeing the option available in my forum account preferences. It's driving me crazy because I'm positive I've seen it before!

Oh, that is a sweet feature I never knew existed! Going to test that out!

(Hope you can set the default behavior for that group)

Take a look in Appearance > Template modifications > Ads Manager > account_preferences and see if the code is applied successfully or not.

Works, great option!

But is it possible to set the default option to "do NOT show ads" (so NO checkmark) in the users preferences? Would like that option for visitors who donate.

Yep. Everything in the ACP appears exactly as it should be. Ads are currently off for my assigned user group.

The only thing missing is that I can't find the option in the account preferences! Here's where I swore I saw it. Somewhere in here:

But WHERE? Which one of these panels should be showing the option for me to turn on or off ads???? I would think it would be the one called Preferences about halfway down, but there's nothing there.

I'm also wondering if I need to change the setting of the default visibility in the ACP in order to display that checkbox in the Account Preferences. That is, in hiding all the ads for everyone in the paid user group, I set "View ads" in the ACP to Never. It works perfectly. Exactly as I would expect.

But if I'm going to make them optional, should that first setting in the ACP be View ads=Yes?

Again, everything about Ads Manager is working exactly as expected in the ACP. It's only the user-facing Account Preferences that's mising the checkbox to show or hide ads...which may of course be linked to having that setting wrong in the ACP. :-)

Thanks again!

It's in the Preferences tab.

Dang! Absolutely not for me!

Although, not to assume that I'm not being an idiot, which I most certainly might be, can you screenshot it for me?

This brings me back to my other question: how is your "View ads" set in the ACP? Yes, No, or Never?

I'm so sorry to keep asking, but everything else about Ads Manager has been so easy, absolutely flawless, and by far the best ad system I've worked with in 30 years of online advertising, but this one thing is vexing me!

We use the same setting and our default group setting "View Ads" is set to "Yes".
The option to hide ads appears for members who are in certain groups, no issues for us. (Permission: "Can hide ads (from account preferences)")
And yes, it shows in the "Preferences" tab of the user CP.
