Trust us when we say we’ve been there! And when we were able to get our hands on some Seint makeup, we definitely saw how cool this system can be, but we also saw how it could get complicated quickly if you didn’t know what to do.

If you’re a beginner to Seint makeup, you may not have heard how their system works. Basically, they put every shade you’ll need to do a full face of makeup in one customizable palette, so when you’re applying the makeup, you don’t need to worry about having multiple tubes, palettes, and compacts on hand. They also focus on creating defined, highlighted looks by applying makeup in a single layer rather than applying it in multiple layers.

So instead of covering your whole face in foundation, then adding highlight and contour on top of that, followed by blush, you essentially lay it all out at once, and blend the cream products together to make a seamless, not-at-all-cakey, natural look.

Now that you’ve got the background on Seint makeup for beginners, let’s get into how to apply Seint makeup so you can nail your first application.

Seint Makeup Application Guide

Makeup is such a visual art, that it can be hard to express the best way to apply it in words. Sometimes, it’s just a bit easier to see how exactly you should be holding a brush, how much product to use, and where to start. That is why we wanted to share a step-by-step how-to.

Before we go any further, let’s break down the items we used to get this Seint makeup look:

• Highlight (shades Moonlit and White Peach)
• Contour (shade Stone)
• Cheek and Lip Color (shades Grapefruit and Nude)
• Illuminator (shade Pearl)
• Vanilla Dust Setting Powder

Once you’ve assembled your Kit, it’s time to get started!

Step #1: Contour

The first step in our Seint makeup application guide is all about defining shape. In this step, we want to focus on shaping the face by adding a darker shade of makeup than your natural skin tone like a shadow in the hollows of your face. The goal of this step is to make your face appear more sculpted and snatched.

As you can see in the diagram above, the hollows and shadows of your face to contour in this step of the Seint makeup tutorial generally include:

• Jawline
• Under the cheekbones
• Edges of the forehead
• Edges of the temples

This is just a general guideline, and the best way to contour your face does depend on the shape of the face that you have. That’s because each type of face shape has its own high and low points, as well as areas you want to focus on lifting and defining.

Commonly, there are 8 different types of faces that need to be considered when you’re mapping out your contour:

1. Round
2. Oval
3. Square
4. Rectangle
5. Diamond
6. Triangle
7. Inverted triangle
8. Oblong

By taking into account which shape your face is, you can create the perfectly snatched look that suits you best. Check out the chart below for a guide to contouring your face based on its shape.

In terms of applying Seint makeup’s contour product, you will want to dot or swipe the contour shade of your foundation palette to the appropriate areas using your finger or one of the Seint makeup brushes. In my case that was the jawline, hollow of my cheek, and around the edges of my forehead. I left it unblended and moved on to the next step.

Step #2: Highlight

Next up, we have highlighting. In Seint makeup tutorials for beginners, it’s often noted this is the step that lifts and accentuates certain parts of your face. You can take this as literally “highlighting” your highest points of the face to make them stand out. This is the opposite of contouring, which is about creating shadows. This means you should use the lightest shade in your palette in this step.

When we applied Seint’s highlight shades, we made sure to add this light shade to the following areas:

• Bridge of the nose
• Tip of the chin
• Under and next to the eyes
• Center of the forehead

We found the best method to apply the Seint highlight shades was to dot or swipe the product from the palette directly onto your face, laying the product down in those key areas.

Step #3: Conceal

The next step in how to apply Seint makeup is all about evening out and minimizing imperfections by concealing in the right areas of the face. And while Seint makeup is all about a natural look, we don’t necessarily want to include blemishes, redness, and other skin imperfections in our final look.

Using shade ‘White Peach’ to conceal

In the case of our Seint makeup application guide tests, we found that the concealing step mainly filled in spots between other Seint makeup products on your face. I also added extra after I did my final blend to a few specific spots that were particularly red.

Step #4: Blend

This step is super important in the Seint makeup application process! Blending your makeup is crucial to a smooth, natural look. After all, poor blending can lead to patching, bald spots, and streaks – especially with cream products like Seint makeup.

Here are a few Seint makeup application guide tips to keep in mind during the blending step:

• Use your tools: Be sure to use the Seint makeup brushes and the Perfector Sponge both to achieve a flawless look. We found the Buff Brush to be the best for getting the product initially blended, while the iiiD Brush was better for details and a secondary blend. The Perfector Sponge was ideal for finishing the look and for blending the blush and Illuminator. Just don’t forget to dampen your sponge first for a more flexible application.
• Take your time: We definitely noticed that the Seint makeup took time to blend. As we mentioned above, using multiple tools and taking our time led to a more consistent look. Be sure to go a bit slower with your blending in order to get the best results.
• Examine in different lights and angles: When we were completing our Seint makeup application guide tests, we noticed it was easy to miss unblended spots, such as on our jawlines. You can avoid looking like you missed a spot by examining your face from different angles and in both artificial and natural light, as different lighting can reveal patchy spots or unblended makeup.
• Tap and buff: In terms of how to blend your Seint makeup, we like to use the tap and buff technique. This means using your brush or sponge to press the makeup into your skin using a dabbing or stippling motion. This helps evenly apply the foundation, while buffing (the motion of swirling and sweeping the brush across your face) makes your makeup appear airbrushed.

Step #5: Blush

The next in how to apply Seint makeup is to apply blush. Blush allows your face to appear warm and gives you back a natural flush that can often disappear when you apply foundation. A blush like Seint makeup’s Lip and Cheek shades is flexible and gives you a more glowy look, thanks to its cream-based formulation.

We tried shades Nude and Grapefruit, swatched below:

As you can see, the shade Grapefruit is more pink and bright, while the shade Nude is more of a bronzey and natural brown shade. We found that Grapefruit was the perfect pink flush, especially for pale skin tones, while Nude felt like a bronzey, warm shade that would give darker skin tones a natural flush.

We applied this also with our fingers, dotting it onto the apples of the cheeks and blending upwards and in circular motions.

Step #6: Illuminator

Next up, we will use the illuminator to finish up the cream makeup application. This cream-based highlighter was easy to apply and gave almost a wet look when applied because it is such a creamy formulation.

We tried the shade Pearl out (swatched below) and found it very subtle and definitely achieved the lit-from-within glow Seint makeup promises.

We dotted this product on the tops of the cheekbones, cupid’s bow, brow bone, and nose tip, which were the face’s high points we wanted to highlight. This lifts the face and makes your look feel more fresh and dewy. It is a more glittery highlight than others, so if you’re not a fan of glittery highlights, this may not be the one for you. If you prefer a more natural sheen in a highlight, we’d recommend Wet N Wild’s MegaGlo Hello Halo Liquid Highlighter. We like that this option is not overly glittery and gives a radiant gleam to the skin instead.

Step #7: Set

With all of this cream product on our faces, the final step of setting your look is key. Cream products can shift or slide around your face throughout the day, particularly if you have oilier skin or are wearing makeup for a long period of time, or are in a warm climate.

Setting powders are often translucent, and the Vanilla Dust Setting Powder is a pressed formulation of this type of product. By lightly sweeping the powder over your entire face, or applying it where you need to boost staying power, it keeps your makeup in place and softens your look.

We added a bit extra in our oilier spots, like the T-zone, and in spots that we wanted to brighten, like under our eyes. The best way to make for a flawless application is to cover your powder brush in a layer of the product, tap off the excess, and press it into the areas you want to mattify and set.
