And more. Keep your car safe and in running order with Vertu Motors.
Which MOT class is my vehicle?
It can be difficult to understand which MOT class your vehicle falls into, and we have broken it down below:
How long does it take for an MOT to show online?
There are no set timescales on how long it will take for your MOT result to show online, but it can typically be up to five working days.
What happens if my vehicle fails an MOT test?
If your vehicle fails its MOT test, you will be given a failure document and advised on the next steps by your service advisor.
If the vehicle requires repairs before a retest, you must not drive it until repairs have been carried out.
Driving a vehicle after a 'dangerous' problem has been found during the MOT can result in a fine of up to £2,500, a driving ban and 3 penalty points on your driving licence.
However, if any 'minor' or 'advisory' problems are identified, you can take your vehicle away if your current MOT certificate is still valid.
Do I need to pay for an MOT retest?
If your vehicle is left at the test centre for repairs and retested within 10 working days, you will only need a partial retest which carries no fee.
However, if you take your vehicle away from the test centre for repairs and take it back within 10 working days, you can be charged a partial retest fee.
Can I book my vehicle in for an MOT before the due date?
You can book your vehicle's MOT one month (minus a day) before its due date and keep your renewal date listed on your current MOT certificate.
What is the difference between MOT and a service?
An MOT is an annual legal requirement to ensure the vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards set out by the Government.
However, it is only guaranteeing the safety of your vehicle on the day it is tested.
A service follows detailed guidance set out by the vehicle's manufacturer and can provide a long-term guarantee on the safety of your vehicle.
