Hei Lun Shi Tang

A revisit to Hei Lun Shi Tang after a long hiatus. They are still located at Level 2 of Queensway Shopping Center, which serves Taiwanese Bento Box in the traditional Metal Lunch Box. Dining in allows patrons to get a Taiwanese feel of eating from the metal box.

Hei Lun Shi Tang

The Signature Braised Pork Bento was appetizing. It was packed with Braised Pork Chop, preserved vegetables, braised egg, mushroom, braised cabbage and carrot.

Signature Braised Pork Bento - $7

You get the best of everything in the signature mixed. It's an upgraded version of the Signature Braised Pork Bento Set with savoury Braised pork. The dishes tasted homely and gave us a satisfying meal.

Signature Mixed - $10

Glad that this place was not overly commercialised and we still can enjoy the feel of some homely delicacies.

The Original Katong Laksa

You would have probably been attracted by this strong aroma of The Original Katong Laksa if you were in Queensway Shopping Center.

Stall of The Original Katong Laksa

We visited this popular The Original Katong Laksa in Roxy Square and this is one of their stores located in Queensway Shopping Center, right in the middle of 1st Floor. If you look down from the upper storey, you will get to see the staff preparing the food.

Open Kitchen

They have been around over the years and besides serving laksa, you can enjoy Curry Chicken as well as their Chicken Cutlet Rice.

Other Food

We ordered the big bowls of Laksa together with drinks and Otah to fix our craving. The bowl of laksa was filled with eggs, fish cakes, beansprouts, blood cockles and de-veined prawns were cut into halves. The bowl of Laksa was topped with the fragrant Laksa leaves.

Laksa - $7.50 (large)

Noodles were cut and we definitely enjoyed every spoonful of it. The gravy was not too thick or creamy, just of the right proportion.

Laksa

The blood cockles were big and plump.

Cockles

Otah and Laksa come in a package! We cannot leave this out!

Otah

I will like to try out their Chicken Cutlet Rice if I ever go there again!

WAWA LALA Bee Hoon

I first know of WAWA LALA Bee Hoon during the covid period where we can only order food online. I was impressed by the quality of food during then. I'm quite excited when I heard that they are located at Margaret Drive which is a stone's throw away from the Queenstown MRT station.

WaWa Lala Bee Hoon

WaWa's Lala and Cockles are daily imported and kept live in their self-built clam aquarium before going into the kitchen. They are fresh and naturally sand-less.

Dining Area & Serving counter.

Fred not if you are bringing young diners aged 12 and below who do not eat clams or cockles. WAWA also do offer the Grilled Chicken Kids Pasta.

Grilled Chicken Kids Pasta - $6.90

Let's start by ordering all their dishes on the menu! The refreshing clam soup noodles were good and reminded me of the natural sweetness of the Clams. You can opt to have Rice or glass noodle, and if you want to have it plain, you can order just the soup without noodles.

Refreshing Clam Soup Noodles 招牌正宗米酒啦啦粉 - $8.90

If you are a fan of Lala with Chinese Wine, you may want to pick this. The clear soup was strongly infused with Chinese wine and a Signature on their menu. You can choose either rice or glass noodle.

Authentic Clam Noodles with Chinese Wine - $8.90

Fresh Clam

"Si Hum" aka Cockles Fans wanted! These Teochew Style Marinated live Cockles were fresh and juicy. WaWa team handpick them, half-boiled and manually half-shells them to ensure that they are easy for the consumers to devour. WAWA Special Sauce complements the natural sweetness of the cockles with an umami-packed flavour in every bite. Enjoy the tangy and a tad spicy treat!

Fresh Cockles Marinated in WAWA Special Sauce 特制叁巴辣椒鲜蛤 - $12.90

Besides having Fresh Cockles Marinated in WAWA Special Sauce, you may want to devour these Cockles with the powerful sambal sauce.

Power Sambal Cockles 特制叁巴辣椒啦啦- $8.90

Next up, the Chef also recommends these Fresh Clams in Signature Homemade Garlic Butter Sauce.

Vongole Pasta is one of my all-time favourites on the Pasta Menu in any restaurant. The Spaghetti is creamy and the texture was not too soft.

Spaghetti Vongole - $10.90

How about giving Sambal Clams another variation, with Lala instead of cockles?

Power Sambal Clams 特制叁巴辣椒啦啦 - $8.90

We can taste the clams' freshness even in the robust sambal sauce.

LaLa

While the menu has noodles and pasta, they also have a dish with rice. If you want to go something with the power sambal clams, they have it paired with fragrant tasty rice.

Power Sambal Clams with Tasty Rice 特制叁巴辣椒啦啦配香味菜饭 - $10.90

Last but not least, we ordered 3 of the sides on their menu. Fresh Clam Chawanmushi was smooth but it can be better with a stronger clam taste. The garlic butter toast reminded me of a childhood snack and it paired well with the garlic butter sauce. The spicy Buffalo Drumlets were not too bad and were not overly spicy.

Here's what we had ordered altogether!

Hei Lun Shi Tang 黑輪食堂

Never expect the craving for Taiwanese food comes so naturally right straight away after returning back to Singapore from Taiwan in less than a week. Upon knowing it, my pal introduced me to Hei Lun Shi Tang for a quick fix. Its located at the 2nd Level of Queensway Shopping Centre just behind Tu Tu Kueh Stall.

Hei Lun Shi Tang specialised in Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice and Bento Sets. Though the kitchen is not very big, they served up to about 17 items on their menu.

Stall & Menu
The typical Bento Rice in Taiwan often comes in a paper box, suitable for commuters to eat on the go. While in Hei Lun Shi Tang,we have it from the stainless steel container. Portion is worth commenting as they are generous even with the small serving, especially the braised minced meat. Besides rice, ingredients include mixed vegetables, mushroom, braised egg, braised minced meat and pickled vegetables.

Bento Drink Set 卤肉便当 - $5 (Small)
Looking at the number 9th item on the menu, we get to enjoy a choice of soup and a bowl of braised pork rice. Likewise to the Bento Set, the braised meat was good. We had Si Chuan Vegetables Pork Rib Soup pairing up in the combo. If you like Si Chuan Soup, this is noteworthy as the Si Chuan Vegetable portion given was too, generous. Sour with a tad spicy and sweet from the tomato. The appetizing taste with the bowl of rice sums up a stomach comforting meal.

Ala Carte Soup and Braised Pork Rice Combo 汤品卤肉饭套餐 - $5.50
Other than selling braised rice, they also offer traditional Taiwanese items like Gong Wan & Noodles. Looks like I will be there again for these items once my crave activates again.
