I watched this guy talk about a series of movies that I have no interest in for an entire hour. I watched him go on a rant about the handling of a character I had never heard of in the remake of a game I had never played. It was still entertaining because it was genuine, because viewers feed off passionate, because this guy only seems to talk about things he likes even if those things have nothing to do with his channel. I could listen to him rant for hours about literally anything as long as he felt strongly about it, or at least seemed like it and honestly I don’t think that power is exclusive to Pastra

if you are passionate about something and you want to talk about it, do it in front of a camera and show me the video I will watch it while I draw. Who knows maybe I’ll even know what your talking about once in a blue moon.

I think at some point people just need to become inherently suspicious of any “boys club” on YouTube, from team crafted to mr beast to to the dream team, to sbi, to try guys, to yogscast, to achievement hunter, it’s become very clear that 9 times out of 10 if something is being advertised and enjoyed as just Boys Being Boys and goofing around that someone’s going to try and use it as a smoke screen for some heinous stuff. Best case scenario they get expunged the moment anything comes out but now the dynamic you were sold on is permanently altered, worst case it gets covered up for nearly a decade before anyone does anything for the victims because of image and nepotism.

That’s not to say you can’t watch and enjoy that content of course but just… be a bit wary? A nearly all boys or completely all boys club kind of dynamic on YouTube or other social media is an inherent red flag for favoritism and coverups. Sometimes nothing bad will actually happen or what will happen will be bad but not like…a sex crime and thus more tolerable to move on from, but it really seems more often then not people who are on YouTube for power and influence tend to lean towards these dynamics for it. Just…watch out for nepotism in your favorite gamers, how they treat employees who aren’t the talent will tell you a lot
