I wish I could trust you.
That 6th and 7th gif still hurt so much. Loki just backing away and struggling against Thor for a moment until he realizes he isn’t strong enough and just is like ‘well, punch me then’. Cause every time he shows a little emotion he is met with physical assault of some form. Ugh.
Even though it hurts, because they’re hurting and Loki is fully anticipating physical violence, I still really do think this is one of the best representations of their relationship as brothers. As in, it feels real.
I’m probably repeating myself because I know I talk about this scene a lot but their mother’s death has sent them back in time almost. Loki is deliberately goading Thor with words (words are Loki’s weapon) and Thor knows this after centuries of it but because their relationship is damaged at this point Thor no longer possesses the ability to be restrained, and doesn’t catch himself until the last moment. Loki is resigned “well, hit me like you always do,”
The general audience is hard on this film but THIS is a complicated sibling relationship where there’s the history of love and admiration but now you’re on different paths, your parents were keeping secrets from both of you, you’re trying your best to hate each other. And yet nobody knows what it was like growing up with your parents except for your sibling!
