My personal metric for fandom has always been this: If more than half of my time in a given space is complaining about the bullshit I'm subjecting myself to in said space, I'm out of there. I don't care if it's legitimate reasons for being angry about shit I see or if it's dumbass reasons, once the scales tip in favor of "I need to tell the internet how wrong they are" instead of "I'm finding my own fun to have", it is just not worth it anymore. It just isn't. That's the point I hit the bricks, I'm out and you will not see me again, because no made up fictional story or fannish experience is worth piling that much crap onto myself and I really think a some people in fandom could really stand to think about whether this whole shebang is worth it for them anymore.

This is the THE absolute most adorable thing, I love that even as an adult, Dick is still being the light to Batman’s dark, you have a scared super powered kid who has calmed down and will probably feel really upset that he made BATMAN come all the way out to find him, Batman is going to be SO MAD, especially after Jon SHOT HIS EYE LASERS AT BATMAN, but before that thought can even really take root in Jon’s mind, there’s Dick poking at Batman’s utility belt WHILE HE’S STILL WEARING IT, making fun of him and offering a lollipop and then offering to juggle for him nobody’s mad at him and it just takes all the tension right out of the air. This is all deliberately considerate, it’s not just being patient with a kid, it’s understanding that a kid’s going to be intimidated even after things calm down and it’s okay to relax, to know that you’re safe and heroes are here to help you. This doesn’t have to be a scary, traumatizing time, it can be just an embarrassing life lesson that you grow from. Also of course Batman has lollipops in his belt and of course Dick just grabs one to give to a scared kid to show, hey, Batman’s not so bad and nothing is ruined here, you’re fine, kiddo.
