the problem w rachel is the sales pitch (alt dykey alternate future child of scott and jean with tragic backstory) is so good but the material is so not there. like "here is an incredible character concept. she is still around, however she has not had any major role in a good comic (or tbh any interesting characterization) since like 1987"
like there is literally no reason that rachel should be a kind of irrelevant x men character but she keeps getting weird character beats that just completely removes her from any of the actually interesting stuff happening in the franchise post 2000.
first she's dead for a long ass time. then she's not there for utopia because shes in space. she's stuck w logan after the schism. she has nothing to do in avx for some fucking reason. she has apparently no reaction to any of the bendiscanny scott antics. she doesnt even have anything to do in phoenix resurrection (too busy macking on nightcrawler ig). in extermination she's just a mindless hound for the entire thing until bable rescues her in x-force and even then she doesn't get to say or do anything because the book just ends. and now she's going to be stuck permanently as betsy's supportive gf until the end of time.
