Have you ever looked closely at a car windshield?
The edge of the glass is painted where it is glued to the car but it has these small dots between the clear and painted glass.
These are there for a reason. When the sun hits the glass the painted areas and the clear areas will absorb heat at different rates. This causes the glass to expand and contract differently putting stress on the glass.
These dots help the glass to warm up more evenly over a larger area so the glass does not suffer stress that could cause it to spontaneously explode.
Fun fact: the Tesla cybertruck doesn’t have these.
Yes, the glass will spontaneously crack or explode in the sun.
just in case anyone needs resources: you may be eligible for SNAP/EBT, food not bombs may have a location in your area, do you know where your local food bank is? did you know that churches often have food pantries, and they may also be in contact with or know of other churches that have food pantries or entire religion affiliated charities that have intricate systems in place to provide more food more reliably and also often offer other resources! ask your religious friends if their church has a food pantry or has connections with any religious charities. these resources are often most accessible in cities, suburbs, metropolitan areas and big towns, but there might be some food pantries in your small town that you don't know about too! if anyone else knows of reliable resources add them!!
even if you don't need extra resources it might save your ass or a loved one, with how unstable the political climate is these days, to familiarize yourself with the resources your community has to offer! also, it's a great idea to get to know your neighbors and see if they need any resources! our country is going to shit and we need to look out for our neighbors, we need to come together. none of your neighbors are expendable. they are people. don't let a single one fall victim to this administration, raise hell if they do!
you can use this link to find food banks in your area: https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank

This tweet lives rent-free in my head now. Hands-down the best comment about the relationship between art and artist.
Yeah probably the most wild thing. He knows and yet chooses to be evil
“As a chemical engineering Ph.D. student at the University of Pittsburgh who uses a power wheelchair, I figured it wouldn’t be long before I met one of these bots in a frustrating face-off on a narrow sidewalk. What I didn’t realize was how dangerous, and dehumanizing, that scenario might be.
The robot was sitting motionless on the curb cut on the other side of Forbes Avenue. It wasn’t crossing with the rest of the pedestrians, and when I reached the curb, it didn’t move as the walk signal was ending. I found myself sitting in the street as the traffic light turned green, blocked by a non-sentient being incapable of understanding the consequences of its actions.”

I know this is a joke but like, yeah. It is. I promise you.
See, I had graduated early from highschool and then got my associates in Zoology. But then, from ages 18-23, I was medicated with antipsychotics and (for those last two years) a deadly combo of sedatives due to misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis, and then a psychiatrist who was legitimately on drugs and just writing random shit that almost killed me.
Anyway, needless to say, my brain turned to mush and stopped working, and it took me 6 years to get some sort of bachelors degree (in fashion??) and I graduated at the bottom of my class.
And then I got properly diagnosed (the “psychosis” was just narcolepsy) and got off all those meds. And I was so afraid my brain was permanently fucked. And it is, cause of the narcolepsy part, but the narcolepsy doesn’t kill the parts of your brain where your smarts are.
But I went back to school. Got another bachelors studying sustainable tourism. Turns out my smarts hadn’t gone anywhere when my brain turned to mush. I graduated with a 3.98 GPA.
Now I’m getting my masters in biology studying the intersection of tourism and the conservation of the critically endangered Cozumel raccoon. And doing well. 🤷🏻♀️
Your brain is not a muscle in the literal sense, but it is a muscle in the sense that the more you use it, the better developed it becomes. Not using it might make its usefulness dip for a bit, but that doesn't mean it's gone forever. You might have to work your way back up, start with easier exercises (puzzles, creative exercises, critical thinking questions) before jumping back into the stuff you used to do, but like a couch to 5k slowly ramp up the difficulty and you'll get there in the end. No one's brains are useless, you just gotta meet 'em where they're at.
what i'm begging people to understand is that a huge portion of evangelical/christians in usamerica do not genuinely and earnestly believe in their holy texts or core doctrines. for them, religion is a means to uphold white supremacy and patriarchy and they've convinced themselves it's their divine prerogative. that is what they believe. you can plead with them to "be christlike" or point out their hypocrisy until the second coming. they do not care. you can't reason with them because they are not interested in piety or morality they are interested in power and control
As a non-US citizen I'd have to say this isn't anywhere near exclusive to the US nor to evangelical christianity specifically.
Any materialist analysis of history and society will necessarily involve having to recognize that religion, like any system of social organization is created by human beings for human purposes, with religion being a very useful system for the purpose of promoting or outright enforcing a particular set of values. And in the context of what values it's trying to promote as a social organization, the particular contents of any religion's scripture/literature/holy texts/etc. are incidental at best.
This girl is an actual hero and we need to donate to her defense fund please
Providing additional information that I could find from her socials. Here’s the link I found to donate to her:
Furthermore, Marcy says that her arraignment is today (May 8th) with the trial likely to start in late July. Please donate, support, and pray; please continue to share her story.
Tampa Bay Times reporter Romy Ellenbogen accompanied Rheintgen to the Capitol. When they arrived, several officers were stationed outside the women’s restroom doors. They warned her not to enter the women’s restroom. Draped in a white, frilly dress and a pink bow, Rheintgen went in anyway and washed her hands. That’s when police entered the restroom and told Rheintgen she was being detained. A devout Catholic, she had wanted to take a moment to pray the rosary, but she never got the chance. After spending less than 60 seconds in the women’s restroom, Rheintgen said, she was charged with trespassing with a warning. Meanwhile, her rosary was confiscated as an officer from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement handcuffed and detained Rheintgen, searched her person and her vehicle, and then shuttled her to the Leon County Detention Facility, where she stayed overnight in the men’s ward. If convicted, she could spend up to 60 days incarcerated.
They also took her fucking rosary?????
