Hello!! Welcome to my bug blog!!

My name's Skela/Ghosty, my main blog is @hungry-skeleton and this is where I'll come to be very autistic about bugs. Mostly ants 🐜

  • My main interest is in ants but I also like beetles, termites, and mosquitoes!
  • I am in no way an expert in entomology I just have a very deep fascination and I wanna learn as much as I can!
  • Polyrhachis is the best ant genus no contest, my favorite is obviously the spiny ant (polyrhachis armata)
  • I firmly believe that all organisms have a right to exist. No bugs deserve to be wiped out no matter how much they bother you. It doesn't need to "contribute to the ecosystem" to deserve to live. Yes, I stan mosquitoes and ticks.
  • I like making stimboards for different ant species! Feel free to suggest ant species you'd like to see get a stimboard! I like to space my stimboards out so it may take a while to see yours get posted
  • All original posts will be tagged with #bugs and #insects if you don't wanna see my bug posts make sure those tags are blocked!!
  • Please feel free to tag me in ant related posts and send me fun facts!! I'm always in an ant mood!!
  • Previously ran the BADASS BUG BRACKET
  • The DNI on my main blog also applies to this one. I'm not gonna list it here but if I block you randomly then know there's a reason

Have a great day!!

I love you mosquitoes they'll never make me hate you

If you notice there's less lightning bugs around then there was when you were young, you aren't going crazy. Lightning bugs/fireflies are becoming endangered!

Above is a video from one of my favorite youtubers, Ze Frank, that goes into more detail.

Lightning bug conservation is not being funded, so the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation requires donations to further their research. The aim is to establish lighting bug sanctuaries and begin habitat restoration efforts.

Studying these little guys has done so much for us in many different fields including medicine! It's important that lightning bugs are protected so future generations can experience that magical feeling of sitting in a field surrounded by little lights.

Please consider donating! Every bit helps🐝

Reblogs are appreciated!

DON'T BELIEVE MAINSTREAM MEDIA

WASPS ARE OUR FRIENDS

Believe it or not, these guys pollinate as well!

Less than a bee, but they do pollinate!

They remember faces and don’t always sting.

Pretty sure they enjoy my sweet talking to every animal or bug I see and stay out my way

Note that by "pollinating less than a bee" all thats meant is they arent as fuzzy, so individual wasps don't carry as much pollen, but overall wasps are as important as bees for pollinating, can't be replaced by bees as many flowers rely on wasps alone, and unlike bees, wasps are also critical predators who regulate plant-eating insects, making them ultimately much more necessary for plant life to thrive.

Anonymous asked:

yo can u pls do like a uhh an ant warfare stimboard? but kinda goofy. like, knights running into battle at 3x speed. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator gameplay footage. crips or bloods. tiny limp wrist slap-fighting. looney tunes chase scenes. do u see my vision

only if u want to tho :] i love ur blog! u introduced me to blue ants. there are so many different colors and head & abdomen shapes and that's so cool

it's everyone's favorite hot topic ant, Camponotus cruentatus. on top of their conspicuous coloration and enormous size, these things like hanging out on common plants like gorse and fennel out in the open, making them very easy to spot. they're not very fond of getting their picture taken, though

@hishap submitted: The flowers are on the way and the ants hard at work! Must be spring! ^^
(They have very few aphids out right now but if last year’s any indication, they’ll have a whole bunch of ‘em soon!)

May their aphid herd be strong and plentiful~
