The ceasefire does not erase the fact that Israel has committed an urbicide in Gaza.

Bisan Owda has posted multiple videos where she says that the ceasefire does not mean the end of suffering for Gazans-the tent cities, the displacement camps won't vanish, because every single infrastructure has been bombed; even optimistically speaking, it will take months to clear out the rubble. People will still have to spend the summer in the tent, maybe even the winter of 2025 won't see much of a difference. To quote Bisan, this is just a pause in the killing of her people- this is not the end of genocide or colonization from the settler state which had every intention to settle back in Gaza and push Palestinians out into the desert.

I don't know what is going to happen in the coming months, only that this is not the time to stop paying attention. The Nakba never ended and these fifteen months of accelerated genocide has caused much loss and grief. Right at this moment, Gazans are either trying to evacuate or they are trying to return to their destroyed homes and pick up the pieces- now more than ever is the time to stand in solidarity. Please keep supporting in whichever way you can. My friend Siraj Abudayeh ( @siraj2024 ) is trying to return to the north of Gaza, he wants to return home. He needs to raise €2500 for transportation and other necessities. Please boost and donate.

I need to save transportation costs to the north until next Saturday. This time delay could have a price. The Israeli occupation will open the road on Saturday to cross to the north, and we want to return as quickly as possible to prevent the risk of displacement and fear that the road will be closed at any time. Speed in reaching the north will help foil the displacement plan.

Hurry and support to protect Palestine from occupation.🇵🇸

Request urgent help

In light of the ceasefire we are witnessing now, my family, which was forced to flee its area of residence due to difficult conditions, is suffering. We would like to return to northern Gaza after a period of displacement, but we are having difficulty securing the transportation costs we need to return.

  • I urge everyone who can help to donate via the chuffed website or contact me via message.
  • Any support in this regard will have a significant impact in helping us return to northern Gaza.

The goal is to reach €2,300 in order to cover the return costs for my family of 24 people.

A person feels deep sadness when he does not find a response from those he asked for help, especially when the need is urgent and the circumstances are difficult. This neglect leaves a profound impact on the soul, and increases the challenges faced by those affected, as the hope of supporting others was considered a ray of light in the darkness. But despite this sadness, hope remains that the day will come when everyone will understand the importance of help and solidarity in such circumstances.

🚨The ceasefire enters into force 8:30am

  • The ceasefire has begun to take effect in Gaza, a moment we have been waiting for impatiently, but it comes loaded with contradictory feelings that are difficult to describe, overwhelming joy because the sound of the shells will stop, and the sky will be silent for the first time, but with the joy, there is a deep sadness creeping into our depths, sadness for the souls that have passed away. Before this moment bears witness to the dreams that were buried under the rubble, and to the living who will remain the scars of this war engraved in their hearts.
  • At this moment, prayers are mixed with tears. We hope that peace will prevail in the hearts of our people, but we carry in our hearts the weight of those who left us. The ceasefire is not only an end to the loud voices, but rather the beginning of a new silence that carries with it memories of war and hopes for recovery.
  • However, despite the exhaustion and sleepless nights, there is a small feeling growing inside me, similar to those childhood dreams. Perhaps this moment is the beginning of a major transformation, to create a new future, where Gaza can regain its right to life.

I remind you, my friends, that my family is still living in displacement and the humanitarian need for shelter continues, and I ask you for continued support and attention.

more than 24 hours have passed without a single donation. 💔

This is frustrating. The need is great and difficult.

I do not know what to tell you now.

the ceasefire was supposed to begin about an hour ago as of writing, but the israeli army has admitted to its continued bombing of the gaza strip, violating its own agreement. netanyahu claims he cannot honor the ceasefire until hamas hands over a list of names of settler hostages to be handed over first; hamas blames this on technical issues.

my friend and gazan journalist siraj abudayeh @siraj2024 (#219) tells me there is shooting along the border between gaza and '48, both in the north and south of gaza. he is also, despite everything, cautiously optimistic that things will settle themselves out soon and the ceasefire can properly begin. here's the message he sent me on the matter (before we got the notification that the ceasefire had been violated):

The ceasefire entered into force in the Gaza Strip after agreements were reached between the Palestinian factions and the Israeli occupation, which gave an opportunity to calm the military situation that had led to the death and injury of thousands of civilians and the widespread destruction of infrastructure. But despite this temporary cessation of fighting, the humanitarian need in Gaza remains dire and persistent. The temporary ceasefire came after months of military escalation, during which civilian areas in Gaza were the target of air and artillery attacks, resulting in the destruction of homes, hospitals and schools. Although the fighting has stopped, Siraj's family still needs significant humanitarian support. Siraj's family is still displaced and suffers from a severe shortage of basic materials such as food, medicine, and clean water. The next phase requires support to mitigate the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

there's still a strong chance that aid will be let into gaza in the coming days, and the process of rebuilding gaza will begin - whether under israeli fire or not. after gaza has has everything stolen. i ask that whoever sees this reblogs or donates to siraj's campaign. he has lost friends, family and colleagues, gofundme has deleted his survival campaign twice, and he's lost his livelihood over the course of this genocide, funded by america. we don't know what is coming next, but we know that these facts cannot change. what matters most right now is getting aid to people who need them.

Would like to request everyone to continue supporting the fundraisers in whatever way you can please. There is a ceasefire- there is relief, there is sadness and so many other things that none of us who are outsiders will ever know...but i have been talking to some of my Gazan friends on here, and right now what is happening is people want to go back home- they want to clean the rubble and rebuild it. They want to rebuild their lives. They want to rebuild Gaza. The ceasefire is only the first step and our solidarity should go beyond it.

What I am trying to say is that for fifteen months Gaza has been carpet bombed and rebuilding will take time. Gaza will be rebuilt by her own people and in the mean time, life has to go on. It absolutely has to, for Gaza to recuperate. There are semester fees that has to be paid. There are careers and business to get back to. There are medicines and food and tents that need to be bought right now. I know the aid trucks will bring in relief but still some costs need to be covered. Also the municipality projects will need funding, the soup kitchens and other grassroot orgs. There is such a long way to go. Please keep talking about Gaza. Keep responding to asks and messages as much as you can. Please keep on boosting fundraisers ( org/individual) and donate if possible.

  • I want to link my friend Siraj's fundraiser here- he is in south Gaza and has been trying to buy a tent for close to two weeks. Tents do not help keep out the cold or the rain, but it is still better than nothing. If you remember that Siraj's initial campaign was so that he can rebuild his house, and Siraj will rebuild a home for his family, he will resume his work as a journalist, but for now he needs to buy a tent.
  • My friend Mohammad Ayesh wants to return to North Gaza. He wants to finish his campaign as soon as possible because once he is in the North, he won't be able to campaign. He has his life to rebuild and the sooner he can finish the campaign, the more quickly he can get to it. He was an university student on October 2023. He has so much to do now. So please help.
