Why is it musicals specifically that get mocked so much? Like… plays, concerts, operas and hell even movie-musicals never get the same treatment and they’re all like one degree off

Ok it seems to be a bunch of smaller things that probably all stem from the fact that they’re less accessible (operas are niche but it’s actually not hard to find quality recordings (better than bootlegs, maybe worse than that one Disney+ hamilton recording), they’re shown in theaters sometimes)

Wait are these assholes trying to claim the concept of a dysphoria hoodie was stolen from trans women

Dysphoria Hoodies??? Really? As we know, the concept of wearing a Baggy Article of Clothing to deal with your dysphoria was nonexistent until the first ever trans woman discovered the magic of the hoodie.

Really???

I was wearing those before I knew what being trans was! Shockingly, if you're dysphoric about a part of your body, your first instinct may be to cover it up with easily available gender-neutral clothing... such as, I don't know, a hoodie? But no, those mean transmascs and nonbinaries stole it from women, who would have guessed :(

Guess we gotta add it to the list, along with "cat ear headphones" and "eggs" and "liking anime."

If anything I'd say it's more relevant for trans guys who want to cover up their chests, as opposed to trans women.

Dysphoria hoodies are more a trans guy thing than trans girl.

If anything, I thought it was more popular with trans men than trans women. I did mention it on my page about gender dysphoria in The Transgender Dictionary

I do want to know who tf is actually claiming that this is somehow transfem specific. Like who is saying this??

This person, who made the "transfem cultural appropriation" list, is the one who said it

Also, as an agender person, I would politely request that people not claim it as something specific to trans men, either. Dysphoria hoodies can be used by any trans person who needs one.

the "i can't believe it's not isekai" genre is somehow more creatively bankrupt than isekai itself

yes, it is tagged "ecchi, harem, monster girl"

You weren't joking, huh.

Gun Shootman was looked down upon due to his weak skill 『Shoot Gun』 and was banished from his party/noble family/chess club but when he discovered that he can shoot people to death he became the strongest and got infinite bitches. 1 million LN volumes and an anime

anyone know if there's any, like, sociological term for children being viewed solely as extensions of their parents? I'm writing an essay and I've tried a few different ways of looking it up but only get results about "narcissistic parenting" which, 1. HHHH, 2. I'm sorry but even if I agreed with that framework in any way I am simply never going to refer to titus andronicus from william shakespeare's titus andronicus (1594) as a "narc" in an academic setting.

Enough of the trope where memory loss undoes the damage or the corruption or whatever. More content where removing memories just removes the context.

The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.

There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.

Gosh I hate grind culture. My little sister just started medical school and all of her orientation leaders are like “you absolutely cannot have a life WHATsoever you WILL have to give up EVERYTHING besides this program say GOODBYE to your hobbies and relationships” and now she’s calling me feeling guilty for running and going to the grocery store and that’s just WRONG! And that is exactly what I was told starting law school as well, and rejecting that mentality was the best thing I ever did but it was so hard not to buy into. Anyway if any of you are in an intense academic program PLEASE take time to sleep and eat and exercise and maintain your relationships and keep up your hobbies! you are not a robot who exists solely to study and I promise that living a life and staying physically and mentally healthy is not going to make you fail

Workaholism is not just a “millennial quirk”, it’s a very real psychological problem that should not be normalized and praised. Diligence and self-realization? Awesome!!! Working so much you forget to eat, sleep and socialize? Not okay under any circumstances.

me: care about people

half the notes: youre the real oppressor for telling me what to do.

the other half: cut out this useless liberal proselatizing. you are an invertebrate and you will perish in the revolution.

we have a new prize comment which is “pretty neurotypical of you to assume i have the capacity to care about other people”

like i’ve seen several different posts floating around to the effect of “tell your doctors that they’re doing things wrong! get a legal team!” wrt psychiatric abuse and it’s like. i don’t think y’all understand how fucking disenfranchised you are when people decide that you’re crazy. you lose any right to autonomy and the notion that you’d want or have it is seen as ridiculous. the only way out of it is total compliance, which is why it’s so brutal to people who get socialized through it. idk. telling people who are living at the whim of an ill informed medical staff to speak up for themselves is like. just so fucking tone deaf and unhelpful. if you’re institutionalized rn on the off chance you’re on socials i’m wishing you all of my strength and resilience. i believe you and i see you and you’ll get through it.
