that’s the nine as of arc 11, not every member that’s ever joined

Make sure to tell me what you think and why you think it!

I have different answers depending on my definition of lameness I think. Jack is most lame as a person, like in universe; in fact his whole deal is about how he is a fundamentally lame person who sticks around anyway. But through this he becomes fairly interesting out of universe I think, its a fun look at what long-running popular villains would look like in a world not constrained to remain anything like our own, its an interesting project. Meanwhile like. Murder Rat does not have enough personality to be a lame person, but the fact that they are so characterless in this sense makes them the most boring, and therefore lame from an out of universe character perspective.

Some people, when presented with a situation where it's plausibly justifiable to be mean, will choose meanness every single time. And it's sort of subtle, because they can make an argument that they're being reasonable in every individual case, but, in aggregate, they're poisonous, absolutely psychically corrosive to their whole environments. And the attitude is sort of contagious because it always looks strong, even as it weakens and hollows everything it touches — it gives you lots of opportunities to score points, you're always on the offensive, you keep everyone permanently on the back foot. And it makes everyone fucking miserable. You have to look at those situations and say, actually, it's also perfectly plausible and reasonable for you not to be an asshole about this, you're choosing this, and you always choose this.

He's a superhero who lives in fear of being normal. He got his powers one day out of the blue, and who's to say that they won't go away just as suddenly?

This insecurity lies beneath everything he ever does, every crime he stops, every relationship he has, every move he makes. He does not see himself as belonging to a separate class of people, he sees this as temporary, fleeting, even as the years drag on.

People think he's humble, but it's not really that. It's the feeling, like a hand around his throat, that he's going to be normal again one day. Maybe it'll happen in the middle of a fight, or maybe he'll be sipping tea, but he'll be normal, so why shouldn't he treat people like he would want to be treated? He's one of the normals, or will be.

I wouldn't say I'm a lapsed cultist. I still accept the basic worldview--I believe that Cthulhu lies in R'lyeh in a deathlike sleep, I believe his Star-spawn shall one day cleanse the earth and usher in an age of shouting and killing and reveling in joy, yada yada--but I'm not, y'know, religious about it. Cthulhu has lied sleeping for, like, countless aeons, he's probably not waking up in my lifetime. I doubt giving up my Friday nights to chant "Cthulhu fhtagn" with a bunch of naked old guys in a basement is gonna wake him up any faster. I mean, if I ever have kids, I'll probably start going again, but that's more about teaching good morals.

  • Make smash hit game in notoriously oversaturated market, using an extremely oversaturated IP
  • reinvigorate passion for an extremely exhausted genre that hasn’t been interesting in almost a decade, and Re spark interest in a property people have come to kinda hate
  • lay off half of people responsible anyway

Someone help me why is my games industry spiraling

the history of Wizardry as a series is really funny to me.

you know how Metroid is more popular in the United States? imagine if it were so popular in the United States, and so neglected in Japan, that Nintendo stopped making them after Fusion. But there were fucking forty Metroids Prime.

Now imagine that one of the most successful cape comics of the 2010s was, in essence, a longform Metroid fanfic about what Samus eats when she's in the depths of a hostile alien planet.

having a freeze response to stress is so funny in the context of normal adult stressors. millions of years of evolution are trying to tell me that the email will not find me if i stay very still and do nothing

people in the notes of that porn addiction post like "i've had men jerk off to porn when i was right here being sexually available" and beyond the idea that not wanting to have sex is some sort of pathology (bad), like... do you really not understand the difference between sex and masturbation?

sex is a social action, doing it means you are taking the needs, desires, and wellbeing of the person you're fucking into account. it takes a certain amount of mental energy and a certain mood to do that? pulling up xhamster and cranking it is like, using similar body parts, but its a completely different task.

if you're with a guy and you're expecting sex with him to be basically him masturbating with your body, well... that's something that needs to be specified and negotiated ahead of time, not the default assumption for sex.

A new kind of FF7 completionist challenge run that includes both Parasite Eve and Xenogears.

On one hand it's like. I've got to be aware that when most creatives talk about early concepts or scrapped ideas they aren't talking about anything that ever was close to really existing, and in large projects it's natural to go through several evolutions before landing on something that is comfortable to work on. But on the other hand when I hear about some discarded premises they sound soo cool, like I want to experience both potential works
