This weekend I drove seven and a half hours into the northern most towns of Quebec to get a chance at seeing a wild Willow Ptarmigan. IT PAID OFF! This guy has no idea how big a fan I am of him.
if you love them too I have these cutie pie ptarmigan wallets that will be in the shop March 7th!
A Brown Thrasher (Toxostoma rufum) out scrounging around the feedlot for eats.
The bird of the day today is the mourning dove!
I saw one of these outside today and got really fukcing excited, to the point where I all but screamed "EVERYBODY STAND VERY STILL AND QUIET, IT'S A MOURNING DOVE" and promptly scared it away before i could get a picture. It was like right infront of me, too. Ah well.
Anyways, onto the fun facts or whatever theyre called.
As they are doves, they are in the family Columbidae, the same as pigeons.
They also look a bit like pigeons, but like. Long. I've seen a couple of them before, but never gotten as close to one as I did today. But hey, at least now I know where to look for mourning doves.
have a knife day!
