phil's birthday charity stream was truly one of the most ridiculous things dnp have ever done and it happened like a month after i started watching them lmao. what an introduction

audio busted straight out the gate literally the worst echo I have ever heard on a livestream. took them about 10 minutes to actually look at the chat and realize this. activities included an otomatone version of the song from their tour from almost a decade prior (mind you I didn't even know the song at this point) and they fucked up the audio again so it was completely unlistenable lmfao I had to actually mute it until the torture ended. another activity was smash or passing pokémon (Dan's 1000 decibel scream from the topped by kakuna moment was instantly seared into my brain) halfway through which the camera died because they forgot to charge it (?????????) and we were just looking at a black screen with fucking clefable or some shit with "smash or pass" underneath it while Dan fought off a panic attack trying to fix the camera (he was actually so nervous on that stream it was making me nervous) and then they finally get a decade-old camera "working" with a white rectangle on the video feed which they can't get rid of and then promptly start shaving off each other's eyebrows with an amount of homoerotic touching so sincere and extreme that I had to avert my eyes. almost set their house on fire and then they didn't even know how to end the stream

and somehow this absolute train wreck raised over $100k for charity, the view count never really dropped at any point (20 thousand-odd people were SAT THERE looking at a fucking black screen with dan in the background muttering "where the FUCK is the cable oh my god I'm gonna kill myself" like "FINALLY some good fucking entertainment") and the entire time they have a close friend who is a professional twitch streamer who offered to help them with their setup but they said no. i laminated my dan and phil stan card on that day. nobody is doing it like them for better or worse
