Several people have asked about my bolding choices, so I'll just mention this for posterity:

I bold text the way I would highlight information in a textbook, which is to say: I like to make the ✨Important Words✨ look ✨Important

I italicize words when I want to emphasize or stress their actual pronunciation. I bold words because of who I am as a person.

I hope that helps 💖

Thinking about sleep deprivation again. Thinking about how sleep deprivation exacerbates and outright cause memory dysfunction.

Thinking about how certain neurotypes are statistically more likely to have non standard circadian rhythms. Thinking about how our society doesn't easily allow folks with atypical circadian rhythms to get enough sleep.

Wondering how much "memory loss" would be associated with certain neurotypes if everyone was allowed to get consistent sleep according to their own internal clocks.

Wondering how many of our "typical" symptoms are actually extreme symptoms, exacerbated by a wildly unaccommodating society.

Wondering what every neurotype would look like, if we lived in a world that met our needs.

I feel like I have to specify that I'm not saying in a perfect world we wouldn't still experience memory issues. I'm just wondering out loud how different those issues might look, were our nervous systems not under constant attack from multiple sources, not even just the sleep thing.

I am no longer explaining my chronic illnesses. I'm only ominously referencing them like I'm a fantasy realm NPC dropping plot hooks:

  • I am besieged by the affliction
  • The ritual was successful, but it has drained me. I need time to recuperate.
  • I can't do that, because of The Curse
  • Dark forces are conspiring within me. I must conserve my strength to battle them.
  • Unseen foes assault me. I cannot strike back with blows, but I can lessen their influence by consuming certain alchemical rites.

What you have to understand about being chronically ill, is that I can do all the things that verifiably help me mediate my symptoms, and still I am inevitably going to wake up some days to my body beating me with sledgehammers.

The Best Case Scenario is just that the sledgehammers get smaller & it uses them less often. But the sledgehammers will always return.

It is the nature of chronic disorders to endure. This is why chronically ill folks have to be so cautious about our spoons. The sledgehammers keep breaking them and we only get so many.

Look at the Horrible Little Guy I drew today 🥰

I'm honestly flattered that you think this was intentionally drawn badly. But in reality, I am just not good at drawing. I used a step by step guide to draw this, and tbh I find those very confusing and hard to follow. But I was genuinely stoked that the end result was actually deer shaped 😂

Tbh I posted this because I can understand how it might feel disingenuous when actual artists encourage non artists to just make bad art.

Because like, easy for you to say, your art is good. Holding aside that it obviously took time and practice to get there, but I can see how some folks respond with a knee jerk resistance to being told to enjoy making shitty art by someone who is already making good art.

So I thought, lemme make some bad art to show people that is actually very fun and worth doing even if you never practice it enough to get good.

There should literally be no such thing as an "insurance denial." If a doctor prescribes something for their patient, a third party payer should not have any authority to deny that.

Their job is to hold the money & to dole it out for medical needs. It's not their job to decide what those medical needs are. That's a doctor's job.

And not just any doctor's job. That's specifically just your doctor's job. The person whom you authorized to actually evaluate you directly.

Once you go to a doctor and your doctor says "ok you need This Medical Thing" that should be the end of the conversation. The insurer simply is tasked with dispensing the check accordingly.

If our healthcare system wasn't just an inhumane cash grab perpetuated by heartless ghouls, it would operate like this. And also it would be guaranteed to everyone, but I digress.

This society is such a farce, it's continuously shocking that so many people still play along.

Billionaires are puppeting your emotions around so you'll protect them like a guard dog, while they're off committing actual atrocities to maintain their power and wealth.

They point to their most vulnerable victims and turn them into a boogeyman for you to hate and fear just so you won't realize that almost every problem in your life is caused by global inequity.

Sure if you're living in the imperial core you can get a banana all year long, and you probably have a cell phone, but you can't afford rent and have no healthcare and you're too burned out to realize that these things are actually connected.

That the atrocities committed abroad to give the citizens of the imperial core the illusion of choice and freedom (like a limited selection of year round out of season produce or cell phones filled with precious minerals and designed to end up in a landfill in two to four years) strengthen the very people who are deflating your wages and inflating the cost of everything else.

You have more in common with the people trapped under the rubble in the wake of US imperialism than you will ever have with the billionaires who profit off of this destruction.

And that's why they work so hard to make you hate their biggest victims. To name them as The Enemy so you'll cheer for their destruction. So you'll never realize that it's your destruction too.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily my brain can fall asleep, while my body is contorted into the most ergonomically blasphemous position ever imagined, as long as I'm just on the couch and not actually trying to fall asleep.

Whereas when I'm cozily tucked into my bed, surrounded by pillows, and resting in the comfiest possible position, my brain is just zooming around my head like a cat at 4am.

Abortion is a Blessing

I'm pro abortion in the same way I'm pro open heart surgery: I hope you never need one, but if you do, it should be safe and accessible.

No questions asked. I don't care how or why you find yourself in need of this vital medical procedure, I just care that you can get it.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled scrolling to bring you these Important Announcements:

  • You do deserve a little treat
  • Your feelings are always valid. Your reactions to them may not be. Breathe before reacting
  • You're not procrastinating. Your brain is just in the Loading Phase and you're low on RAM
  • That project you're working on is just enrichment in your enclosure. It doesn't matter if you never finish it. It's there for your enjoyment, you are not obligated to it.
  • That crow you smiled at remembers you
  • We know the sky is not blue. And yet, the sky is blue. Perception is a powerful thing. Always investigate your perceptions, because they may not align with what's True

Thank you for your attention to these Urgent Matters. You may now resume doomscrolling.

Here's an easy trick to figure out if your religion is a Spirituality or a Hate Group:

Spirituality:

  • "My religion provides me with a set of guidelines about how to conduct my personal life, the tenets of which apply voluntarily to me and other voluntary followers of my faith"

Hate Group:

  • "My religion provides me with a set of guidelines about how every person must conduct their personal lives, the tenets of which I must enforce on non followers against their will."

Which category does your faith put you in?

Conservatives attack education because they need a populace that does not place the burden of proof on them. That's why they can just say blatant, easily disprovable lies, and their base just eats it up as gospel truth.

Because to be a Good Conservative™, you must reject The Woke Leftist Education Machine.

And in doing so, they forfeit their right to learn how to determine what's true. They have no basis for analyzing information, so they're easy to manipulate with a cult of personality.

They teach you to trust The Leader above all. So you'll never demand any evidence for what they say and won't know how to look for it yourself.

Escape Room (Level: Impossible)

Time limit: One Hour

You are seated on a couch. On the table next to you are a little snack, a freshly packed bowl of weed (& lighter), and a crisp glass of ice water.

All you have to do is decide which thing you wish to consume first, and then pick it up and follow through with consuming it. Good luck and may god have mercy on your executive functions.
