TURNABOUT HONEYMOON - A fic where Apollo Justice and Clay Terran solve a murder together

Fandom: Ace Attorney

Relationship: Apollo Justice/Clay Terran

Words: 73,243

Genre: Casefic

Warnings: AA4 spoilers

Apollo and Clay are enjoying their honeymoon at a B&B in the mountains, the perfect setting for quiet walks on mountain trails and late nights of stargazing. But their good time is cut short when a new acquaintance dies under mysterious circumstances... and right before Apollo's eyes.

This is only the latest in a string of nebulous events plaguing this small mountain town, and local law enforcement is running short on resources. So the case is given to two more vacationers, Sebastian Debeste and Dick Gumshoe, who quickly determine that this death was no accident.

An arrest is ordered, and Apollo immediately takes up the defense, with his new husband right by his side. But who could have committed such an impossible crime?

A complete casefic in the style of an Ace Attorney case, with Apollo as defense attorney, Clay as his assistant, and Sebastian as the rival prosecutor.

Hey if anybody is starving for more Ace Attorney you should definitely play Tyrion Cuthbert

It's Ace Attorney in a ttrpg-type world, the rules of magic are critical to each case, strong mystery writing, comes out the gate with a great case 1 and stays good through all its 5 cases (ESPECIALLY case 4 holy shit), the soundtrack slams, and there's a Dahlia-like (in that they're a character you can tell is gonna be an Endgame Problem starting from very early on) who is utterly, utterly delightful to watch

it's on steam.

In case it helps convince anybody, here's the Confrontation ~ Presto of this game

Saw one of those posts where someone was like “Boba Fett was only 37 in Return of the Jedi?? He shoulda been at the clubbb” and like. I cannot stress enough how much he was at the club. He was chilling in the corner but he was AT the club. Max Rebo was there and everything

the d&d movie was so good. they captured the energy perfectly. exposition and character building and meeting that takes 10 minutes. travel across 3 countries in like 5 minutes. bullshit plans that work so hard. a dragon for no reason other than its a fuckin dragon. Chekov's gun but it's Chekov's arsenal. A paladin's autistic swag. nat 20 on the potato. crying. a very quick "where are they now" segment. everything.

it has been so long since i've played twilight princess, which is tragic as the game literally changed the course of my life in incalculable ways

but one thing i think i'm going to appreciate more when i come back to it again is how proper HEROISM takes center stage in that game

famously the hardest part of the game isn't any of the boss battles or dispelling twilight, it's *saving Ralis*

Just one person. The world would go on without him. But it's not a sidequest, it's not optional. And it's difficult.

The real kicker is that four people save him, three of them risk their lives to do it, and he's a total stranger to all of them. Link is the only one involved who even knows his name. But he's going to die without them. And sometimes you can't save the world, you just save what's in front of you.
