Proshippers and adjacents please fucking block me do not let me follow you for the love of god

I'm objectum! That means I genuinely am attracted to several kinds of inanimate objects and if you're gonna be weird about that you're getting your ass blocked (if ur curious I'm romantically into trains and platonically into pool toys and some other secret things)

Also, tagging any of my catperson related content as h3y m3lissa or making jokes to do with that episode might get you blocked! Sometimes it might just get a warning, but on a bad day it's a hard block. Just know that! Making my favs into catppl brings me lots of joy bc I like projecting my catgirl gender identity onto them. Imagine if someone compared your gender expression to torture porn! Not pleasant.

Also if I follow you I'd appreciate you tag any non-Paulkins Paul ship and H3y M3lissa with "perky don't look", or to always make sure you tag those ships consistently. Polycules including Emma don't need to be tagged

I would also appreciate if anything describing or depicting skin being removed from a person would also be tagged as "perky don't look"

If you ship m.chie or paul and mlisa get off of my blog pls I don't wanna see you

Also pls tag centipedes and millipedes with #centipede and #millipede ! I have Scolopendrphobia!

Also I guess since I'm officially a Homestuck fan I gotta put this in my pinned:

my partner might be onto something when she says you can disguise your pickiness and food sensitivity as an adult by calling yourself a “purist.” so instead of saying “the taste and texture of cooked raisins make me want to hmork,” you say “i’m actually kind of a cinnamon roll purist, i prefer just a classic cinnamon filling and a really good dough instead of something with a ton of random mix ins,” which takes you from who gave this four year old a bachelor degree to oh wow this guy is a pretentious asshole about more things than i even thought was possible

a conceening number of tumblr users seem to believe there are no white people in latin america

a concerning number of tumblr users also seem to believe being latin american absolves you of racism

Since we're talking about this, specifically racism from white marxists and their tendency to speak over black people, i wanted to share this.

First of all, antiblackness as a term and act, is not a us centric issue. But on the other hand, i think it's a good case study on how nonblack/white marxists (esp those not from the us) will automatically assume antiblack racism is just something black us americans made up, so that they themselves don't have to acknowledge or dismantle the antiblackness in their own communities.

a white brazillian marxist saying they've never heard of antiblackness, and that antiblack racism is an american invention is very on brand for them.

black brazilians and black latin people in general, are mistreated the most in latin american countries, next to indigenous peoples.

Hey remember VHS where you bought a box to plug into your tv and you could legally record whatever was playing and then own it for free forever

I cannot emphasize enough that you not only COULD, it was ENCOURAGED. Blank video tapes for recording whatever you wanted were available everywhere and it was hard to miss the record button on the machines. They also deliberately designed stuff like VHS players that you could tell when to start recording things - as a kid I'd tell the player to record the cartoon channel beginning at 6 or 7 and then sleep in and watch the tape later - and then they would tell you how to do it in the owner's manual, this was no secret. You were SUPPOSED TO record shows you wanted to keep or that you wouldn't be home for to watch later.

The essential piece of information missing here is that the people who made the VHS machines and the people who made the TV channels were, and I cannot stress this enough, different people.

Like, of course Disney didn't used to want you to record their stuff for free and watch it forever. When VHS home recording came out, the companies that invented it were...sued! Of course they were!

It's just that the TV companies lost the lawsuit. It was deemed that once the signal got to your house legally you could do whatever the hell you wanted with it as long as it was for personal noncommercial use. It would have probably gone differently if the TV companies had the ability to detect whether you were recording them and then shut the signal off.

Like, I am 100 percent on the side of "you should be able to keep and own stuff permanently, I just also think there's a limit to how much breathless mythmaking about the halcyon days of the early nineties I can handle before it starts drifting into low-key misinformation.

do you guys know about the internet roadtrip? right now somewhere between 500 and 900 people are collectively 'driving' a car on google street view trying to make it to canada. it's fun i recommend it

also the car goes hilariously SLOW. they've gone about 35 miles over the past 12 hours. this is gonna be a longass roadtrip

the internet road trip car has a radio that gets like 5 local stations. everyone in the car has gotten really into WBOR, a college station in maine. (we're still in maine. we're going to be in maine for days) they've decided to take the car to the station but in order to make sure they arrive during the day while the djs are on air, they're killing time by driving around backroads on islands

big news, i just tuned in and the car has made it to brunswick maine, estimated to arrive at WBOR hq in 30 mins. the radio was playing an early round of applause

the dj is playing traditional french music from the 60s right now and is following the progress of the car which is taking a scenic route to see the sights of brunswick

we are HERe we are triumphantly honking while french music plays on the radio

WBOR is rickrolling us

just a suggestion but if you're writing about "the ancient world" please don't include societies that existed from like 1300 to 1521

AZTECS AND INCAS WERE NOT ANCIENT I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL

The Americas have genuinely ancient histories also!!!! Tell me why you talk about Rome and Greece and Sumer and the Qin Dynasty and Middle Kingdom Egypt but you've never heard of the Moche or Chavín, the Olmec or the Classical Maya city-states, or even Poverty Point or the Hopewell Interaction Network, or maybe the ancient Tsimshian city of Temlaxam????

okay this is gaining notes so I just want to clarifying:

I'm not saying that the Aztec and Inca societies are not fascinating and super important. They are!!!! Please learn about them!!!! And I'm DEFINITELY not saying this to say they are inferior to Eurasian societies--I want people to learn about the societies BEFORE the Aztecs and Incas.

However, when they are lumped in with the category of "ancient" alongside Rome/Greece/Mesopotamia/Egypt etc societies from before AD 500, it has the effect of flattening Indigenous American history. This is why people are constantly losing their mind over the fact that "Oxford is older than the Aztec Empire" like okay sure. But Teotihuacan is older than Oxford, it's not like there were no societies in the Americas before the year 1300.

Basically no one seems to have a sense of the true length of Indigenous American presence and history in our own continents. That's why this bothers me.

If you don't refer to The Tudors in England as "The ancient Tudors" or The Renaissance as "The Ancient Renaissance" then it's also inaccurate to say "The Ancient Aztecs/Inca". It's really just so common for people to think that Native American history begins and ends with being colonized (thus, why they see a few decades preceding 1492 as being "ancient" for us)

THANK YOU exactlyyyyyyy this

Fucking hate my dash man

Like man if the way you measure how much a fandom cares about black characters is how much people are writing about them having "taboo" (see also: abusive) sexual dynamics with each other then you do not care about black characters either.
