     General Sir Charles Cameron Shute was born on 3 January 1816 at Burton, Chirstchurch, Hampshire, England.1 He was the son of Thomas Deane Shute and Charlotte Cameron.1 He married Emma Caroline Rhoda Dowler, daughter of Reverend Henry Turnour Dowler and Frances Harriet Emma Dickenson.1 He died on 30 April 1904 at age 88 at Dinsdale, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England.1
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)
