     Marjorie Brooks is the daughter of John Bunyan Smedley Brooks.1 She married William Graham Holford, Baron Holford, son of William George Holford and Kathleen Isabel Maud Palmer, on 29 August 1933.1
     From 29 August 1933, her married name became Holford.1 After her marriage, Marjorie Brooks was styled as Baroness Holford on 29 January 1965.

     William George Holford was born on 27 June 1866.1 He was the son of Reverend William Holford and Ellen Walker.1 He married Kathleen Isabel Maud Palmer, daughter of John Palmer, on 12 October 1901.1 He died in 1927.1
     He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, Manchester, Lancashire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Brabant's Horse.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901, where he was mentioned in dispatches and was wounded.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (M.I.Mech.E.)1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.)1

     Reverend William Holford was born on 2 June 1831.1 He was the son of Thomas Holford.1 He married Ellen Walker, daughter of Joseph Walker, on 21 December 1859 at Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa.1
     In 1855 he was disinherited from his father when he left for SOuth and Central Afica to become a Wesleyan missionary.1
