     William Alexander Evering Cecil, 3rd Baron Amherst of Hackney was born on 31 May 1912.1 He was the son of Captain William Amherst Cecil and Gladys Evelyn Baggallay.1 He married Margaret Eirene Clifton Brown, daughter of Howard Clifton Brown and Mary Eirene Hodges, on 14 September 1939.1 He died on 22 July 1980 at age 68.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Amherst of Hackney, co. London [U.K., 1892] on 21 December 1919.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Horse Guards (Blues.)1 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1945.1 He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1963.1

     Margaret Eirene Clifton Brown was born on 23 February 1921.2 She was the daughter of Howard Clifton Brown and Mary Eirene Hodges.1,2 She married William Alexander Evering Cecil, 3rd Baron Amherst of Hackney, son of Captain William Amherst Cecil and Gladys Evelyn Baggallay, on 14 September 1939.1 She died on 22 September 2009 at age 88.3
     From 14 September 1939, her married name became Cecil. After her marriage, Margaret Eirene Clifton Brown was styled as Baroness Amherst of Hackney on 14 September 1939. She lived in 1999 at 138 Cranmer Court, Sloane Avenue, London, EnglandG.1

     Howard Clifton Brown was born on 3 April 1868.2 He was the son of James Clifton Brown and Amelia Rowe.2 He married Mary Eirene Hodges, daughter of Sir Henry Edward Agincourt Hodges, on 14 July 1903.2 He died on 11 September 1946 at age 78.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newbury between 1922 and 1923.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newbury between 1924 and 1945.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in the 12th Lancers.2 He lived at Holmbush, Faygate, Sussex, EnglandG.1

     William Hugh Amherst Cecil, 4th Baron Amherst of Hackney was born on 28 December 1940.1 He was the son of William Alexander Evering Cecil, 3rd Baron Amherst of Hackney and Margaret Eirene Clifton Brown.1 He married Elisabeth Merriman, daughter of Hugh Humphrey Merriman and Anne Margaret Holden Illingworth, on 30 March 1965.1 He died on 2 April 2009 at age 68.2
     William Hugh Amherst Cecil, 4th Baron Amherst of Hackney usually went by his middle name of Hugh.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was a director of E. A. Gibson, Shipbrokers Ltd.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Amherst of Hackney, co. Lucy Clare Beckett, in 1990.2 She and Giles Wilson Mervyn Crewdson were divorced in 1993.1 She married, secondly, Rupert Nicholas Stephenson, son of Charles Lyon Stephenson and Margot Jane Tinker, on 1 September 2000.3,4
     Her married name became Crewdson. In 1993 her name was legally changed to Cecil.1 From 1 September 2000, her married name became Stephenson.3
