     Robert Dalzell was born circa 1738.2 He was the son of Robert Dalzell, 5th Earl of Carnwath and Margaret Vincent.1 He married Elizabeth Acklom, daughter of John Acklom, on 24 May 1761.2 He died on 29 July 1788.2

     Elizabeth Acklom was the daughter of John Acklom.1 She married Robert Dalzell, son of Robert Dalzell, 5th Earl of Carnwath and Margaret Vincent, on 24 May 1761.2 She died on 14 May 1817.2
     From 24 May 1761, her married name became Dalzell.2

     Sir John Dalzell, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Robert Dalzell, 1st Bt. and Violet Riddell.1,2 He married Harriet Murray, daughter of Sir William Murray, 1st Bt., on 16 June 1686.2 He died in March 1689.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries [Scotland] in 1686.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Dalzell [N.S., 1666] before April 1686.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries [Scotland] in 1689.2

     Sir Robert Dalzell, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir John Dalzell and Agnes Nisbet.1,2 He married, firstly, Catherine Sandilands, daughter of Sir James Sandilands and Lady Agnes Carnegie.2 He married, thirdly, Violet Riddell.2 He married, secondly, Lady Margaret Johnstone, daughter of James Johnstone, 1st Earl of Hartfell and Lady Margaret Douglas, circa 11 October 1654.2 He died before April 1686.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries [Scotland] between 1665 and 1674.2 He was created 1st Baronet Dalzell [Nova Scotia] on 11 April 1666.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries [Scotland] from 1681 to 1682.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries [Scotland] in 1685.2

     Sir John Dalzell was the son of Robert Dalzell, 1st Lord Dalzell and Margaret Crichton.1,2 He married Agnes Nisbet, daughter of James Nisbet, before 1625.1 He died before 23 September 1669.1
     He fought in the Battle of Worcester on 3 September 1651, where he was taken prisoner.1 He lived at Glenae, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.3 He lived at Newton, ScotlandG.1

Robert Dalzell, 1st Earl of Carnwath1

     Robert Dalzell, 1st Earl of Carnwath was the son of Robert Dalzell, 1st Lord Dalzell and Margaret Crichton.1 He married, firstly, Christian Douglas, daughter of Sir William Douglas of Drumlanrig, younger and Margaret Gordon, with a tochter of 20,000 marks.1,2 He married, secondly, Katherine Arington, daughter of John Arington.1 He died circa June 1654.1 He was buried on 21 June 1654 at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered to his widow on 30 October 1660.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Dalzell [S., 1628] between July 1635 and July 1636.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in June 1638.3 He was created 1st Earl of Carnwath [Scotland] on 21 April 1639.1 In June 1643 he was accused by the Scottish Convention of betraying the designs of the Scots to the King, and was fined £10,000 Scots.1 On 25 February 1645 he was declared 'forfeited' and sentenced to death, with the Act declaring that his son Gavin should immediately receive his estates and the Earldom.1 He fought in the Battle of Naseby on 14 June 1645.1 He fought in the Battle of Worcester on 3 September 1651, where he was taken prisoner, and committed to the Tower.1
