     Lt.-Col. Robert Swinton was the son of John Swinton, Lord Swinton and Margaret Mitchelson.² He married unknown daughter Elphinstone, daughter of Alexander Elphinstone of Glack and Jean Mackenzie.¹ He died, without issue.¹
     He was Lieutenant-Colonel in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹
