John Campbell Swinton, 2nd of Kimmerghame1

     John Campbell Swinton, 2nd of Kimmerghame was born on 22 September 1777.1 He was the son of Archibald Swinton, 1st of Kimmerghame and Henrietta Campbell.2 He married Catherine Rannie, daughter of James Rannie and Catherine Mure, on 15 March 1809.1 He died on 8 March 1867 at age 89.1
     He was given the name of John Swinton at birth.1 He was commissioned with the rank of commander, in the service of the Berwickshire Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 91st Highlanders.1 In 1850 his name was legally changed to John Campbell Swinton of Kimmerghame.1 He lived in 1850 at Kimmerghame, Berwickshire, Scotland.1

     Charles Reginald Mure was born in 1833 at Ayrshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of Colonel William Mure of Caldwell and Laura Markham.1

     Catherine Rannie was born in 1790.2 She was the daughter of James Rannie and Catherine Mure.2 She married John Campbell Swinton, 2nd of Kimmerghame, son of Archibald Swinton, 1st of Kimmerghame and Henrietta Campbell, on 15 March 1809.1 She died in 1821.1
     From 15 March 1809, her married name became Swinton.

     Archibald Campbell Swinton, 3rd of Kimmerghame was born on 15 July 1812 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of John Campbell Swinton, 2nd of Kimmerghame and Catherine Rannie.3 He married, firstly, Catherine Margaret Pringle, daughter of Sir John Pringle of Stichill, 5th Bt. and Emilia Anne Macleod, on 29 July 1845 at Stitchel, Roxburghshire, Scotland.1,2 He married, secondly, Georgina Caroline Sitwell, daughter of Sir George Sitwell, 2nd Bt. and Susan Murray Tait, on 7 October 1856.3 He died on 27 November 1890 at age 78.1
     He was given the name of Archibald Swinton at birth.1 He was Brigadier-General of the Royal Company of Archers between 1842 and 1862.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He was Professor of Civil Law at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1

     Elizabeth Cecilia MacNeece Foster was born circa 1929.1 She was the daughter of Air Vice Marshall William Foster MacNeece Foster and Jean Bruce.2 She married, firstly, Edward Hay Laughton-Scott before 1979. She married, secondly, Charles Ritchie Russell, Baron Russell of Killowen, son of Francis Xavier Joseph Russell, Baron Russell of Killowen and Hon. Mary Emily Ritchie, in 1979. She died on 16 November 2023.1
     From before 1979, her married name became Laughton-Scott. From 1979, her married name became Russell. After her marriage, Elizabeth Cecilia MacNeece Foster was styled as Baroness Russell of Killowen in 1979.

     John Liulf Campbell Swinton, 4th of Kimmerghame was born on 3 March 1858 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Archibald Campbell Swinton, 3rd of Kimmerghame and Georgina Caroline Sitwell.3 He married Agnes Cecil White, daughter of George Towry White, on 6 June 1893.1 He died on 6 September 1920 at age 62.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, King's Own Sscottish Borderers.1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.)1 He was admitted to Member of the Royal Company of Archers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berwickshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Berwickshire.1

     George Towry White was born in 1814.2 He was the son of William Archibald Armstrong White. He died in 1867.2
     He was a practising barrister.3 He wrote the book A treatise on proceedings in equity: by way of supplement and revivor: with an appendix of precedents, published 1843.2
