George Carr Shaw was born on 30 December 1814 at Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland.2 He was the son of Bernard Shaw and Frances Carr.3 He married Lucinda Elizabeth Gurly, daughter of Walter Gurly, on 17 June 1852 at St. Peter, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1,2 He died on 19 April 1885 at age 70.2
