     He lived at Sanquhar, St. Quivox, Ayrshire, Scotland.1

James Reid1

     James Reid was born on 8 September 1823.1 He was the son of William Reid and Mary Miller.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Ann Scott, daughter of James Scott and Elizabeth Thomson, on 1 January 1851.1 He married, secondly, Charlotte Geddes, daughter of John Geddes, on 6 June 1886.2 He died on 23 June 1894 at age 70.2
     He was President of the Institute of Engineers and Shipbuilders Scotland between 1882 and 1884.1 He was President of the Royal Institute of Fine Arts, Glasgow.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lanarkshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Perthshire.1 He lived at Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland.1 He was Lord Dean of the Guild of Glasgow between 1893 and 1894.1 He had three elder sons (who died in infancy.)1
