     Sir William Robert Pryke, 1st Bt. was born on 15 March 1847 at Hoxton, London, England.1,2 He was the son of Richard Reeve Pryke and Emma Louisa Parker.3,2 He was baptised on 11 July 1847 at St. John the Baptist, Shoreditch, London, England.2 He married Marguerite Harriot Stiles, daughter of Robert Stiles, on 12 December 1878.1 He died on 30 March 1932 at age 85.1
     He was a member of the governing body of the Irish Society.1 He held the office of a member of the Court Common Council between 1887 and 1920.1 He was a senior partner of Pryke and Palmer.1 He held the office of Lieutenant and Alderman of City London.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1921.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1921.1 He held the office of Sheriff of City London in 1921.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of City London between 1925 and 1926.1 He was created 1st Baronet Pryke, of Wanstead, Essex [U.K.] on 3 November 1926.1
