     Dr. Archibald William Cockburn was born on 5 December 1814 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of Henry Thomas Cockburn of Bonaly, Lord Cockburn and Elizabeth Macdowall.2,1 He was baptised on 23 December 1814 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He married Mary Ann Balfour on 12 March 1844 at St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He died on 13 January 1862 at age 47 at Murrayfield, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
     He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (F.R.C.S.E.)1
