     Joan Shirley Blackman was born circa 1921.2 She was the daughter of Rear-Admiral Charles Maurice Blackman.1 She married, firstly, Major Jocelyn Arthur Persse, son of Major William Arthur Persse and Katherine Ellen Gehle, on 12 June 1940.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Francis Edgar Anthony Fulford, son of Francis Algernon Fulford and Constance Louisa Drummond, on 7 February 1948.1 She married, thirdly, Sir John Gawen Carew Pole, 12th Bt., son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Reginald Pole-Carew and Lady Beatrice Frances Elizabeth Butler, in 1979.3 She died on 24 June 2012.2
     From 12 June 1940, her married name became Persse.1 From 7 February 1948, her married name became Fulford.1 From 1979, her married name became Carew Pole.3 She lived at Headbourne Worthy, Winchester, Hampshire, England.3

     Major Jocelyn Arthur Persse was born on 11 October 1913.1 He was the son of Major William Arthur Persse and Katherine Ellen Gehle.2 He married Joan Shirley Blackman, daughter of Rear-Admiral Charles Maurice Blackman, on 12 June 1940.1 He died on 26 October 1942 at age 29 at El Alamein, EgyptG, from wounds received in action.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Rifle Brigade.1
