     Paul Mellon was born on 11 June 1907 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.G.1 He was the son of Andrew William Mellon and Nora Mary McMullen.1 He married, firstly, Mary Conover in 1935.1 He married, secondly, Rachel Lowe Lambert, daughter of Gerald Barnes Lambert, in 1948.1 He died on 1 February 1999 at age 91 at Oak Spring, Upperville, Virginia, U.S.A.G.1
     He was educated at The Choate School, Wallingford, Connecticut, U.S.A.G.1 He graduated from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.G.1 He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1938 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the Office of Strategic Services.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was awarded the U.S. Bronze Star four times.1 He was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1985.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.)1 He wrote the book Reflections in a Silver Spoon, published 1992.1 He was awarded the National Medal of Arts and Humanities in 1997.1
