Roger Keys1

     Roger Keys was the son of Henry Keys.2 He died in 1477.1
     He held the office of Chaplain to King Henry VI.1 Patent extended to Roger's brother Thomas and his descendants.1 He held the office of Archdeacon of Barnstaple.1 He held the office of Prebendary of St. Paul's.1 He was Notary Public for Exeter.1 He held the office of Canon of Exeter in 1436.1 In 1443 he helped build All Souls College, Oxford.1 Circa 1445 he helped build Eton.1 In 1449 he was granted arms and an apparently unique patent of nobility, in that no summons as a peer of Parliament accompanies it (possibly because the recipient was in holy orders.)1 In 1470 he was charged with treason as a Lancastrian supporter and pardoned in 1472.1

     Richard Keys is the son of Thomas Keys.2 He married, firstly, Agnes Saunders, daughter of unknown Saunders.1 He married, secondly, Myldrede Scott, daughter of Sir John Scott.1
     He was Yeoman to Catherine of Aragon in 1523.1 He held the office of Serjeant-at-Arms in 1528, to Keng Henry VIII.1 Circa 1538 he was granted the Abbey lands of St. Radegund at the Dissolution of the Monasteries.1 He was commissioner for building Sandgate Castle in 1539.1 He was Captain of Sandgate Castle in 1541.1

     Thomas Keyes is the son of Thomas Keyes and unknown wife (?)2
     He was granted land in Ireland at Clonfade (later Glenfade) and elsewhere.1 Between 1578 and 1601 he served in Ireland.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Derry in 1623.1
