Reverend John Morgan Rice1

     Reverend John Morgan Rice was born circa 1774.2 He was the son of John Rice and Frances Plumbe.2 He married Elizabeth Holmes, daughter of William Holmes, on 18 December 1804 at St. Alfege, Greenwich, Kent, England.2 He died on 24 November 1833 at 6 Royal Crescent, Brighton, Sussex, England.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 2 June 1834.2
     He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1796 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was Curate in 1797 at Ightham, Kent, England.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1819 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2

     Lucy Maria Rice was the daughter of Reverend John Morgan Rice and Elizabeth Holmes.2,3 She married Edmond William Elton, son of Sir Charles Abraham Elton, 6th Bt. and Sarah Smith, on 10 June 1845 at Brighton, Sussex, England.1,3 She died on 16 May 1846.1
     From 10 June 1845, her married name became Elton.

     Sir Edmond Harry Elton, 8th Bt. was born on 3 May 1846.1 He was the son of Edmond William Elton and Lucy Maria Rice.2 He married Mary Agnes Elton, daughter of Sir Arthur Hallam Elton, 7th Bt. and Rhoda Susan Willis, on 7 July 1868.1 He died on 17 July 1920 at age 74.1
     He was educated at Bradfield College, Bradfield, Reading, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of the Somerset County Council.1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.)1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Elton, of Bristol [G.B., 1717] on 14 October 1883.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Somerset.1 He gained the rank of Major and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Gloucester Artillery.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Somerset in 1895.1
