Sir Courtenay Pole, 2nd Bt.

     Sir Courtenay Pole, 2nd Bt. was baptised on 17 February 1618/19.3 He was the son of Sir John Pole, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth How. He married Ureth Shapcote, daughter of Thomas Shapcote, before 1649.3 He died circa 10 April 1695.3 He was buried on 13 April 1695.3
     He was educated at Lincolns Inn, London, EnglandG.3 He fought in the English Civil War, for the Royalists.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Pole, of Shute House, Devonshire [E., 1628] on 16 April 1658.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Honiton between 1661 and 1679.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1681/82.3

Ureth Shapcote1

     Ureth Shapcote is the daughter of Thomas Shapcote.1 She married Sir Courtenay Pole, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Pole, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth How, before 1649.2
     She was also known as Urith Shapcote.2 From before 1649, her married name became Pole.2

Sir John Pole, 1st Bt.

     Sir John Pole, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir William Pole and Mary Periam.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth How, daughter of Roger How, on 5 January 1613/14. They were cousins.2 He married, secondly, Mary (?)2 He died on 16 April 1658.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Devon in 1626.2 He was created 1st Baronet Pole, of Shute House, Devonshire [England] on 12 September 1628.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1638/39.2 He fought in the English Civil War, for the Parliamentarians.2

     Elizabeth How was the daughter of Roger How. She married Sir John Pole, 1st Bt., son of Sir William Pole and Mary Periam, on 5 January 1613/14. They were cousins.1 She died on 16 April 1628.1
     From 5 January 1613/14, her married name became Pole.1
