Caroline Cumming1

     Caroline Cumming was the daughter of Colonel Sir John Cumming.2 She married James Dewar, 4th of Vogrie, son of James Dewar, 3rd of Vogrie and Elizabeth McCullough, on 19 April 1792.1 She died on 27 December 1856.1
     From 19 April 1792, her married name became Dewar.

James Dewar, 5th of Vogrie1

     James Dewar, 5th of Vogrie was born in 1793.1 He was the son of James Dewar, 4th of Vogrie and Caroline Cumming.2 He married Emily Dyer, daughter of General S Dyer, in October 1818.1 He died on 13 October 1869, without issue.1
     He was Commercial Resident of Rungpore, Bengal.1 He partipicated in an ordinance; Judge of the High Court [India].1 He partipicated in an ordinance; Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Midlothian.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Midlothian.1

     Emily Dyer is the daughter of General S Dyer.2 She married James Dewar, 5th of Vogrie, son of James Dewar, 4th of Vogrie and Caroline Cumming, in October 1818.1
     From October 1818, her married name became Dewar.

John George Dewar1

     John George Dewar was the son of James Dewar, 4th of Vogrie and Caroline Cumming.2 He died, drowned at sea.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1819 in the Royal Navy.1

Alexander Cumming Dewar, 6th of Vogrie1

     Alexander Cumming Dewar, 6th of Vogrie was born on 10 November 1803.1 He was the son of James Dewar, 4th of Vogrie and Caroline Cumming.2 He married Jane Elizabeth Cumming, daughter of Colonel Alexander Cumming, on 7 November 1855.1 He died on 12 June 1880 at age 76.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He fought in the Afghan War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Bengal Cavalry.1 He fought in the Sikh Campaign.1

     Jane Elizabeth Cumming was the daughter of Colonel Alexander Cumming.2 She married Alexander Cumming Dewar, 6th of Vogrie, son of James Dewar, 4th of Vogrie and Caroline Cumming, on 7 November 1855.1 She died on 10 July 1876.1
     From 7 November 1855, her married name became Dewar.

James Cumming Dewar, 7th of Vogrie1

     James Cumming Dewar, 7th of Vogrie was born on 13 January 1857.1 He was the son of Alexander Cumming Dewar, 6th of Vogrie and Jane Elizabeth Cumming.2 He married Katharine Adeline Purcell, daughter of Thomas Purcell, on 29 July 1884.1 He died on 29 April 1908 at age 51.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Dragoon Guards and 11th (Prince Albert's Own) Hussars.1 He fought in the Zulu War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was severely wounded.1 He was Privy Chamberlain to Popes Leo XIII and Pius X.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1901.1 He was awarded the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.1 He was awarded the Knight of Honour and Devotion, Sovereign Military Order of Malta.1 His last will he willed Vogrie to his youngest daughter to the exclusion of his son (who was left nothing in his mother's will either.)1
