Bridget Cicely Carte was the daughter of Rupert D'Oyly Carte and Lady Dorothy Milner Gathorne-Hardy.1 She married John David Gathorne-Hardy, 4th Earl of Cranbrook, son of Gathorne Gathorne-Hardy, 3rd Earl of Cranbrook and Lady Dorothy Montagu Boyle, on 7 October 1926.1 She and John David Gathorne-Hardy, 4th Earl of Cranbrook were divorced in 1931.2 She died in 1985.2
After her marriage, Bridget Cicely Carte was styled as Countess of Cranbrook on 7 October 1926. From 7 October 1926, her married name became Gathorne-Hardy.

Rupert D'Oyly Carte is the son of Richard D'Oyly Carte.1 He married Lady Dorothy Milner Gathorne-Hardy, daughter of John Stewart Gathorne-Hardy, 2nd Earl of Cranbrook and Cicely Marguerite Wilhelmina Ridgway, on 6 June 1907.1 He and Lady Dorothy Milner Gathorne-Hardy were divorced in 1942.1
