David Leslie, 8th Earl of Leven1

     David Leslie, 8th Earl of Leven was born on 4 May 1722.1 He was the son of Alexander Leslie, 7th Earl of Leven and Mary Erskine.1 He married Wilhelmina Nisbet, daughter of William Nisbet of Dirleton, on 29 July 1747.1 He died on 9 June 1802 at age 80.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Kirkcaldy [S., 1690] on 2 September 1754.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Raith, Monymaill and Balwearie [S., 1690] on 2 September 1754.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Melville [S., 1690] on 2 September 1754.1 He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Leven [S., 1641] on 2 September 1754.1 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Melville of Monymaill [S., 1616] on 2 September 1754.1 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Balgonie [S., 1641] on 2 September 1754.1 He held the office of High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland between 1783 and 1801.1

Wilhelmina Nisbet1

     Wilhelmina Nisbet was born in 1724.2 She was the daughter of William Nisbet of Dirleton.3 She married David Leslie, 8th Earl of Leven, son of Alexander Leslie, 7th Earl of Leven and Mary Erskine, on 29 July 1747.1 She died on 10 May 1798.1
     Her married name became Leslie. After her marriage, Wilhelmina Nisbet was styled as Countess of Leven and Melville on 2 September 1754.

     Alexander Leslie, 7th Earl of Leven was born after 1696. He was the son of David Leslie, 5th Earl of Leven and Lady Anne Wemyss.1 He married, firstly, Mary Erskine, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. John Edmund Erskine and Anna Dundas, on 23 February 1721.2 He married, secondly, Hon. Elizabeth Monypenny, daughter of Alexander Monypenny, 20th of Pitmilly and Hon. Magdalene Erskine, on 10 March 1726.2 He died on 2 September 1754.
     He succeeded as the 7th Lord Melville of Monymaill [S., 1616] in June 1729.1 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Balgonie [S., 1641] in June 1729.1 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount of Kirkcaldy [S., 1690] in June 1729.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Melville [S., 1690] in June 1729.1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Raith, Monymaill and Balwearie [S., 1690] in June 1729.1 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Leven [S., 1641] in June 1729.1 He held the office of High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland between 1741 and 1753.2 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1747 and 1754.2 He held the office of Lord of Session.2

     Mary Erskine was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. John Edmund Erskine and Anna Dundas.1 She married Alexander Leslie, 7th Earl of Leven, son of David Leslie, 5th Earl of Leven and Lady Anne Wemyss, on 23 February 1721.1 She died on 12 July 1723.2
     Her married name became Leslie.

     Lt.-Col. Hon. John Edmund Erskine was born on 30 March 1662.1 He was the son of David Erskine, 2nd Lord Cardross and Mary Bruce.1 He married, firstly, Jane Mure, daughter of William Mure of Caldwell and Barbara Cunninghame, on 14 March 1690.1 He married, secondly, Anna Dundas, daughter of Sir William Dundas of Kincavel and Margaret Edmonston, on 5 January 1691.1 He married, thirdly, Lilias Stirling, daughter of Sir John Stirling, 8th of Keir and 5th of Cadder and Lilias Colquhoun, on 28 April 1725.2 He married, fourthly, Mary Stuart, daughter of Charles Stuart and Jean Hamilton, on 25 November 1729.2 He died in January 1743 at age 80.2

     George Leslie, Lord Balgonie was born in January 1695.1 He was the son of David Leslie, 5th Earl of Leven and Lady Anne Wemyss.1 He married Lady Margaret Carnegie, daughter of David Carnegie, 4th Earl of Northesk and Lady Margaret Wemyss, in August 1716.1 He died on 20 August 1721 at age 26.1
     He was styled as Lord Balgonie between 1707 and 1721.1

     Lady Margaret Carnegie was born on 6 December 1697.2 She was the daughter of David Carnegie, 4th Earl of Northesk and Lady Margaret Wemyss.1,3 She married George Leslie, Lord Balgonie, son of David Leslie, 5th Earl of Leven and Lady Anne Wemyss, in August 1716.1 She died on 7 July 1722 at age 24.1
     From August 1716, her married name became Leslie.1
