     David MacIver was born on 24 August 1840 at Liverpool, Lancashire, EnglandG.1,2 He was the son of Charles MacIver and Mary Ann Morrison.2 He married, firstly, Ann Rankin, daughter of Robert Rankin and Ann Strang, on 1 July 1863.2 He married, secondly, Edith Eleanor Squarey, daughter of Andrew Tucker Squarey and Eleanor Catharine Fulton, on 13 May 1873 at Bebington, Cheshire, EnglandG.1 He died on 1 September 1907 at age 67.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Birkenhead between 1874 and 1907.2 He was a steamship owner.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2
