     Elizabeth Deynsell is the daughter of Richard Deynsell.¹ She married, firstly, Martin Fortescue, son of Sir John Fortescue and Isabella Jamys, on 10 September 1454.² She married, secondly, Sir Richard Pomeroy after 1472.¹
     From 10 September 1454, her married name became Fortescue.¹ From after 1472, her married name became Pomeroy.¹

     Richard Deynsell lived at Filleigh, Devon, England^G.¹ He lived at Wear Gifford, Devon, England^G.¹

     Sir Richard Pomeroy married Elizabeth Deynsell, daughter of Richard Deynsell, after 1472.¹

     John Fortescue was born in 1460.² He was the son of Martin Fortescue and Elizabeth Deynsell.¹ He married Jacquet St. Leger, daughter of Ralph St. Leger, in 1480.² He died on 2 June 1503.²

     He wrote the book De Laudibus Legum Anglice.³ He held the office of Lord Chief Justice on 25 January 1442.³ He held the office of Lord Chancellor after 1461, allegedly created by King Henry VI after his deposition.³

     Arthur Chichester, 1st and last Baron Chichester of Belfast was born in May 1563 at Raleigh, Pilton, Devon, England^G.² He was the son of Sir John Chichester and Gertrude Courtenay.^1,3 He married Lettice Perrot, daughter of Sir John Perrot and Jane Prust, on 8 April 1605.⁴ He died on 19 February 1624/25 at age 61 at London, England^G, without issue.⁴ He was buried on 25 October 1625 at St. Nicholas Church, Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Ireland^G.⁴ His will was proven (by probate) on 21 May 1625.⁴
     He matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 15 March 1583.² He fought in the Spanish Armada in 1588, as Captain of H.M.S. Larke.² He fought in the Expedition to Cadiz in 1596, in charge of a company.² He was appointed Knight in 1596.² He was commander of the troops to Carrickfergus in 1599 assisting against the rebels.² He held the office of Governor of Carrickfergus in 1599.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 19 April 1603.² He held the office of Lord Deputy [Ireland] from 1 February 1604/5 to 29 November 1615.² He was created 1st Baron Chichester of Belfast, co. Antrim [Ireland] on 23 February 1612/13.³ He held the office of Lord High Treasurer [Ireland] between 13 July 1616 and 1625.² His last will was dated 29 October 1621. He was on an embassy to the Palatinate between 2 May 1622 and October 1622.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 31 December 1622.² He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁵
     

     Edward Chichester, 1st Viscount Chichester of Carrickfergus was born circa 1568.² He was the son of Sir John Chichester and Gertrude Courtenay.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Denham.³ He married, firstly, Anne Coplestone, daughter of John Coplestone and Dorothy Biston, on 4 July 1605.³ He died on 8 July 1648.³ He was buried at Eggesford, Devon, England^G.³ He died intestate and his estate was administered on 27 September 1648.⁴
     He was appointed Knight on 18 July 1616 at Theobalds, Hertfordshire, England^G.³ He held the office of Governor of Carrickfergus.³ He held the office of Governor of Culmore.³ He was Joint Commissioner of the Treasury [Ireland].³ He held the office of Admiral of Loughneagh.³ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1625.³ He was created 1st Baron Chichester of Belfast, co. Antrim [Ireland] on 1 April 1625.¹ He was created 1st Viscount Chichester of Carrickfergus, co. Antrim [Ireland] on 1 April 1625.¹ He was commader of the a Regiment in 1641 for the King.³

     Gertrude Courtenay was born in 1521.² She was the daughter of Sir William Courtenay.¹ She married Sir John Chichester, son of Edward Chichester and Lady Elizabeth Bourchier.¹ She died in April 1566.¹
     Her married name became Chichester.¹
