     Sir William Douglas, 4th of Drumlanrig was the son of William Douglas, 3rd of Drumlanrig and Margaret Carlyle.¹ He married Elizabeth Crichton, daughter of Sir Robert Crichton of Sanquhar and Elizabeth Erskine. He died on 22 July 1484 at Kirtie^G, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Kirtie on 22 July 1484, against his cousin, 9th Earl of Douglas.¹
