     James William Graves was born in 1747.1 He was the son of Reverend James Graves and Jane Ryder.1 He married, firstly, unknown Fawson.1 He married, secondly, Mary Anne Hilliard, daughter of Christopher Hilliard and Henrietta Carrique.1 He died in 1813 at Exeter, Devon, England.2
     He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy.1 Paymaster.2
