     Lady Caroline Jane Thynne was born on 28 August 1928.¹ She was the daughter of Henry Frederick Thynne, 6th Marquess of Bath and Hon. Daphne Winifred Louise Vivian.¹ She married David Robert Somerset, 11th Duke of Beaufort, son of Captain Henry Robert Somers FitzRoy de Vere Somerset and Bettine Violet Malcolm, on 5 July 1950.¹ She died on 22 April 1995 at age 66, from cancer of the pancreas.¹
     She was educated at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, England^G.¹ Her married name became Somerset. She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) by Bristol University, Bristol, England^G.¹ After her marriage, Lady Caroline Jane Thynne was styled as Duchess of Beaufort on 5 February 1984.
